According to the midrash, Adam named both himself and Hashem. There's a certain power in choosing your name and in naming your deity, but Adam seems to have recognized both their places in the universe and named accordingly. Most people who choose names do so prescriptively. Adam was descriptive.

I was going through some old books and I found a receipt tucked into a siddur by the previous owner. It's a receipt for a donation from 1978. That's old enough that it's not in Shekels - it's in Israeli Lira.

I will just add that if you ever actually see a banana tree in person, it becomes immediately obvious that it's not a normal tree. The "trunk" isn't really a trunk. To the naked eye it looks like leaves coming up from the ground.

Today's adventures in Jewish editing. Midrash Tanhuma contains a description of the peacock as having 366 colors, one for each day of the solar year. I was reading a modern book that was discussing the peacock and they edited the midrash to say 365 instead of 366.

I'm not a fan of grafitti in general, but if you are going to do it, make it funny and keep it to a minimum. There is an olive press, called a בית הבד in Hebrew just off a highway in Israel. Someone scratched out a little piece of wood on the sign so it looks like it says בית חבד.

The best thing Star Wars ever did was save Star Trek. In the late 70s movie studios started using demographics to measure movie success. SW was a hit with young men, so the studios looked for something similar. That led them to create the Star Trek movies, & restarted the franchise. #MayTheFourth

This should take 5 minutes and can be done during of after davening. While someone you have a relationship with already is probably the easiest, any rabbi should be able to organize this with minimal trouble I'll also add that you don't owe anyone your life story or your politics - keep it simple.
