If a UBI were to be realized rent exploitation would be more exposed than it is. It would force the payers of UBI to see rent pricing for what it is, price gouging, exploitative, wage slavery enslaving, resource gatekeeping, closed commons, privilege pronouncing, and theft

With a UBI people can visit other realities When I was growing up without worry (financial or housing) I would visit places & experience briefly the worlds other people lived in It was strange, enlightening & sometimes emotional That doesn’t happen anymore A UBI would allow us to create & visit

Conservatives & boomers & some other groups see the world as a win lose scenario “If I win, you lose” “If you win, I lose” To them someone has to lose This is zero sum thinking But they have heard of “win win” situations but don’t see life that way 1/2

Yes, that's one of the strengths of UBI. It would provide upward pressure on wages for jobs people dislike. This would also accelerate automation of those jobs. On the flip side, it would subsidize work people enjoy, enabling more people to do those forms of work

I believe half of all taxes should be returned to citizens so they have a direct choice in what to spend the money on Instead of a bureaucrat somewhere who doesn’t know what you need you can participate and decide directly Voluntarily, not the same as a UBI but can be used for basic necessities

But I think it's important everyone knows that UBI works and demands it because reducing inequality can just be going back to 1960s tax rates. It doesn't mean UBI just like it doesn't mean universal healthcare. We need to fight and win both, but it helps to know they both actually work well.

The Year is 5030. The Four Millionth Test of UBI confirms that it works and does not make people not work, reduces poverty, improves mental health, and clears people's skin. It continues not to be adopted by any major political party. A new trial of the efficacy of UBI begins.

The cost to get out of homelessness in some places is around $9000. There’s no way that a unhoused person can get out of homelessness without help or housing changes The brave people defending this society often come home and face homelessness bc of unrestrained price gouging housing

On April 28, 1945, Benito Mussolini was captured and executed by Italian partisans. His fall shattered the illusion of fascist invincibility and signaled a brutal end to an era that had plunged Europe into chaos and war. (Some pics too graphic to post) #StayCurious #Skystorians #DiveIntoDiscovery
Mussolini Slain, Reviled in Milan — April 28, 1945

This historic front page from The Boston Herald, dated April 30, 1945, captures one of the most dramatic turning points of World War II: the death of Italian dictator Benito Mussolini. Dominating the page in massive, bold letters is the headline “MUSSOLINI SLAIN, REVILED IN MILAN,” signaling to readers across America that Il Duce’s reign had finally ended in violence and disgrace. Beneath the main headline, subheadings announce the collapse of key northern Italian cities—Venice, Milan, and Genoa—into Allied hands, painting a picture of Italy’s complete unraveling after years of fascist rule. The paper also describes American forces “swarming into Munich” as Hitler’s Third Reich crumbles. The vivid language used—“SUICIDES SPEED BERLIN’S END”—hints at the desperate final days of Nazi leadership. The small photo inset on the page shows Mussolini during his lifetime, an eerie reminder of his former power now utterly destroyed.

To the right, a chilling line reads: “Mistress, Puppets Meet Similar End, Bodies Lie in Street,” referencing how Mussolini, along with his mistress Clara Petacci and other fascists, were captured, executed, and publicly displayed by Italian partisans. The world, weary from years of bloodshed, witnessed a final act of reckoning. This newspaper front page is more than a record of Mussolini’s death; it marks a profound moment when Italians reclaimed their future from dictatorship. It symbolizes how fascism, once ascendant across Europe, could be decisively and violently overthrown. The sheer starkness of the design—the towering letters, the bluntness of the phrasing—mirrors the emotional weight of the news. In that single day, Mussolini’s legacy collapsed from grand imperial dreams to a body lying humiliated in the streets of Milan. This artifact captures not only a factual event but the overwhelming global relief, rage, and hope that surged as Europe neared the end of its darkest chapter.Mussolini and the Blackshirts’ March Through Italy’s Darkest Ambitions

This powerful black-and-white photograph captures Benito Mussolini proudly leading a procession of Blackshirts—members of the paramilitary wing of the Italian Fascist Party—through the streets during the height of his rule. Mussolini, striding confidently at the front, raises his right hand in a fascist salute, his posture exuding authority and dominance. The tightly packed ranks of uniformed men around him represent the brutal force behind Mussolini’s dictatorship, a movement that rose to power promising order but ultimately plunged Italy into repression and war. Visible in the background are Nazi flags, a stark symbol of the alliance between Fascist Italy and Nazi Germany, solidifying the grim Axis partnership that would devastate Europe. The Blackshirts, originally formed as a force to crush socialist and communist opposition after World War I, grew into an instrument of terror that enforced Mussolini’s absolute rule over Italy.

This image freezes a moment of dangerous unity—a society mobilized not around democratic ideals, but around violence, ultranationalism, and totalitarian control. The sharp uniforms, militaristic banners, and proud faces illustrate how fascism enticed a generation with promises of restored national glory while silencing dissent through brutal means. Decades later, this visual stands as a reminder of how easily democratic institutions can fall when fear and fanaticism are weaponized. It also foreshadows Mussolini’s tragic downfall; the same unwavering loyalty seen here would fracture as Italy crumbled under the weight of war and betrayal. Just years after this photograph, many of these same Blackshirts would flee, be captured, or meet violent ends. Mussolini himself, once the architect of this terrifying spectacle, would be executed and reviled by the very people he once commanded. The Fall of Fascism: Mussolini’s Portrait Defaced in Defiance

This haunting photograph captures a chilling symbol of Benito Mussolini’s violent downfall. A once-proud official portrait of Mussolini, dressed in full military regalia and bearing his decorated uniform, hangs nailed to a tree trunk. His face—once a symbol of totalitarian power and nationalist pride—has been riddled with bullet holes, a brutal and unmistakable gesture of contempt from the Italian people. The image speaks volumes about the seismic shift in Italy’s political and emotional landscape by April 1945. Mussolini, who had once rallied millions under his fascist banner and projected an image of invincibility, had seen his power utterly collapse under the weight of war, betrayal, and resistance. The bullet-riddled portrait represents more than just the physical defeat of a man; it embodies the obliteration of an ideology that had brought suffering, fear, and destruction to a nation.

The makeshift mounting of the photograph on a tree trunk, paired with the crude, splintered directional signs beneath it, evokes a scene of chaos and reclaimed freedom. For years, Mussolini’s propaganda machinery had controlled every image, every word seen by the Italian public. Now, in a final act of defiance, ordinary citizens asserted control over his image—transforming it from a symbol of authority into one of shame and ridicule. The setting, rough and unceremonious, stands in stark contrast to the grandeur Mussolini once demanded, highlighting how quickly the tides of history can turn against even the most dominant rulers. The photo immortalizes the moment when fascism’s facade shattered beyond repair. It reminds us that no authoritarian regime is invulnerable and that power based on oppression is inevitably met with reckoning. This raw scene remains a potent visual testament to the collapse of Mussolini’s empire and the broader fall of European fascism during the final, chaotic days of World War II.Mussolini’s Grim End: A Dictator Brought Low Before the World

This stark historical photograph captures one of the most dramatic reversals of power in modern history: the brutal public display of Benito Mussolini’s corpse alongside those of his mistress, Clara Petacci, and other executed fascist officials. Their bodies lie sprawled in the streets of Milan as a crowd of onlookers, soldiers, and civilians gather around in a charged, chaotic scene. In death, Mussolini—once the fearsome Il Duce who ruled Italy with iron-fisted authority—was exposed, powerless and disgraced. Captured by Italian partisans while attempting to flee disguised as a German soldier, Mussolini and his closest allies were executed on April 28, 1945. Their bodies were then transported to the Piazzale Loreto, a site deliberately chosen for its symbolism: only a year earlier, Mussolini’s regime had executed and publicly displayed partisans in that very square.

Now, it was Mussolini himself who faced the same public humiliation. The image shows the raw, unfiltered reaction of a people long terrorized by fascist rule—some gawked, some jeered, others spat or cursed the fallen dictator. The public anger and cathartic display marked not just the collapse of Mussolini’s personal regime but also served as a visceral message to the world: the era of fascist oppression in Italy was ending. The bodies would soon be hung upside down from a metal girder at a nearby gas station for further public display, a grim spectacle intended to offer closure to a population devastated by years of war, betrayal, and suffering. In the context of World War II’s closing days, this scene resonated far beyond Italy—it was part of a broader crumbling of totalitarian regimes across Europe. This photo is a somber reminder of how swiftly political fortunes can change, and how history’s final judgment is often delivered not by courts or books, but by the hands and eyes of everyday people determined never to forget.
