Happy #StarTrekDay! Today we celebrate 60 years of one of Science Fiction's most iconic settings and stories, and the inspiration for our fantastic series of stories, projects and adventures. From Kirk to Boimler, From Uhura to Tilly and from Constitution-Class to Akira(!), it has inspired us all.

A kind soul asks me how I write. This is how I do it. There are many, many ways. The most basic answer: put words on the sheet, don’t give up, keep going. @tranquilitypress.bsky.social is a community that can support your journey. That’s what they did for me. #StarTrek #writing #Iamwriting

3. Outline the events. Where is the story going? Where is it taking place? Who has POV? 4. Drop your characters in. And record what they see and say 5. Revise, revise, revise. Never publish draft 1

Thank you for the kind words! The answer is simple, but not easy. 1. Start with the human story (themes, not Trek) you want to tell 2. Create the characters that will experience it. They don’t have to be human, but have to have humanity.

It’s historical fiction. A lot of work to go until its ready for prime time, but it was one of those things you just have to write

I know I haven’t been around Bluesky much the past two months, but that’s because I’ve been writing a new novel that ties together America’s Gilded Age, British Imperialism, and Meiji Japan. The first draft is complete. Even if no one ever reads it, it exists and it is mine.

Added some 3D printed lens mounts for my Tomy Enterprise, really does a great job replicating the spotlights on the underside of the ship

I sometimes forget that Sabine is also a #Mandalorian: an ancient, warrior people who lost their home to a mighty empire, now scattered across all of creation, broken into factions, and trying to find their new path: #StarWars #ThisistheWay

Only early millennial, lonely history nerd boys (and maybe more than a few lonely history nerd girls) knew that moment in 1997 when we first saw this on the big screen and said “one day, that will be my wife.” And then she was…she really was @lariahod.bsky.social

YOU: please act normal you need these people to like you Me: ok! People: hi Me: “You wanna hurt me? Go right ahead... I could be a cold, hard cynic like you. But I don't like to hurt people's feelings... I like me. My wife likes me. My customers like me. Because I'm the real article…”

“Your men love you. If I knew nothing else about you, that would be enough. But, you also tilt when you should withdraw, and that is knightly too.” Happy 25th Anniversary to “A Knight’s Tale,” a movie that taught a fifteen year old that he could change his stars:

Why did I want my replacement Kobo to have a bigger, color screen? So I could read this on something other than my laptop. Worth it, @wolf359project.bsky.social

Roddenberry Shop ones from a few years ago were pretty much screen accurate, but you’ll only see them through resellers now with ridiculous prices. A few people are 3D printing good copies over on etsy, but the scale is usually off. Avoid Chinese knock-off crap like the plague.

I can’t speak for @starfleethist.bsky.social, but I’m pretty sure Pershing was inspired by whatever model kits he could get his hands on 😉

Starfleet Academy Department of History @starfleethist.bsky.social · 09/04/2026

100%. I designed the Pershing back in 2015 based on what a capital ship made from parts of other 1980s/1990s Starfleet ships already existed in shipyards at the time of the Dominion War. I built that model with that image in mind back in 2020. To my surprise, the parts fit together almost perfectly.

The first line that came to mind when I heard about the decision on #StarfleetAcademy, but what I love most about #StarTrek is the franchise has died many deaths before: “Second star to the right…”
