Starfish Fibers @starfishfibers.com · 2hYou can use other methods of joining if needed, I usually use a lazy join for anything that won’t felt to avoid knots. Also, if it’s the spit part of spit-splice that’s the issue, try a little jar of water or a spritz bottle. 110
Starfish Fibers @starfishfibers.com · 11hTwo more days! See you at Lambtown 🐑 October 3 and 4, in the outdoor vendor barn. 000
Starfish Fibers @starfishfibers.com · 30/09/2026My understanding is that you want it to be juuuust snugged up against the warp, not actually tight. Keep at it! 110
Starfish Fibers @starfishfibers.com · 30/09/2026Honestly, looks pretty good for a first attempt! Practice, practice, practice. I’ve seen the Inkle weavers in my guild leave slack in their weft yarn as a loop on the side, beat down with their shuttle, then pull the weft snug. Helps reduce tension issues like this. 110
Starfish Fibers @starfishfibers.com · 29/09/2026Here's a sneak peek at a new product debuting at Lambtown: nalbinding taster kits! They'll be an affordable, easy way to try out the craft without buying supplies you might not need later. 011
Starfish Fibers @starfishfibers.com · 28/09/2026Last photo from our pop-up on the 13th: the public debut of our newest bags! They're the same bag as That Grocery Store that have been so popular recently, just with our logo on them. Perfect for your latest fiber arts project. 000
Starfish Fibers @starfishfibers.com · 28/09/2026Do your best to keep some part of your crochet that’s just for you. Speaking as someone who pretty heavily monetized a hobby, there’s a risk of losing your love for it once it becomes a job. So, section off what’s for sale, and what you do for you. 140
Starfish Fibers @starfishfibers.com · 28/09/2026KnitPro Dreamz are my usual recommendation for interchangeable wood needles. You can either buy a bundled set, or buy them piecemeal as you need them. If budget isn’t a problem, I’ve been very happy with my Lantern Moon set. 010
Starfish Fibers @starfishfibers.com · 27/09/2026More pop-up photos: It's so hard to resist squishing the yarn all day long. The vibrant colors are definitely an eye catcher, and people often come into our booth even if they aren't a fiber artist just to look at the yarn. 000
Starfish Fibers @starfishfibers.com · 27/09/2026Have you tried muting his account? That should hide his posts from any feeds you watch. 000
Starfish Fibers @starfishfibers.com · 26/09/2026Find us at the Lambtown fiber arts festival, October 3 and 4! We'll be in the outdoor vendor barn, on the nearest corner when you're walking towards it. 010
Starfish Fibers @starfishfibers.com · 26/09/2026I’ve been super happy with my Svaha dresses. They’re not inexpensive, it’s true. But they’re made very well, and the pockets are huge. 010
Starfish Fibers @starfishfibers.com · 26/09/2026Heated blankets! I also have a heated mattress pad cover that can turn on automatically when paired with an outlet timer switch. Game-changer for chronic pain. 020
Starfish Fibers @starfishfibers.com · 25/09/2026More pop-up photos: I bring swatches every time. This way, you know exactly how your yarn will look & feel when made into a finished piece, no matter what craft. All our swatch rings have samples made with knitting, crochet, nalbinding, and weaving, as well as sample lengths of the yarn itself. 021
Starfish Fibers @starfishfibers.com · 24/09/2026More pop-up photos: We don't just sell yarn, we have 3D printed tools that I design and manufacture in-house as well. The nalbinding Loopships are very popular, and the SpinCue is designed to hold your spinning fiber's end securely and mark where to start drafting from. 031
Starfish Fibers @starfishfibers.com · 23/09/2026More pop-up photos: new favorite Juniper Moon Cumulus, in its various colorways and lines. I've made a knitted shawl and a granny square to really show off how soft this yarn is, and how vibrant the colors are. Fishermen's Wool is also popular, and we still have a little bit of our Jaggerspun left. 020
Starfish Fibers @starfishfibers.com · 22/09/2026Here's some photos from our pop-up last week! The amigurumi crochet kits are always popular, so I feature them right up at the front. 051
Starfish Fibers @starfishfibers.com · 22/09/2026Was just gonna say, yeah, do a little embroidery around them and that might help. 010

Starfish Fibers @starfishfibers.com · 20/09/2026I've made a small update to the Loopship design: a hole for a jump ring. This allows you to clip it onto a chatelaine or lanyard if you want, and allows me to string it on a cord to add to nalbinding starter kits! 000
Starfish Fibers @starfishfibers.com · 20/09/2026My boss at my first “real” job had a poster on the wall behind his desk where we could all see it (open office plan): “Creativity is a work ethic.” That drilled into my head that it’s not just slinging art at the wall to see what sticks, it’s making decisions with intentionality and thought. 1130

Starfish Fibers @starfishfibers.com · 19/09/2026Sure thing! If you find it easier to mirror as if she’s sitting across from you, try putting the video on a tablet or phone and watching it upside down. 010
Starfish Fibers @starfishfibers.com · 19/09/2026Try Bonsai Woman’s tutorials on YouTube. That’s what got it to click for my brain. Also, the needle I got through my own kit from Keila is still my favorite go-to needle, even after building up a collection of them! 210

Starfish Fibers @starfishfibers.com · 18/09/2026Pretty much! Works best with a limited color palette though. 110
Starfish Fibers @starfishfibers.com · 18/09/2026You’re spot-on about the yarn, it’s basically a tiny I-cord. It’s what we call a chainette construction, as opposed to plied like a more common yarn. 110
Starfish Fibers @starfishfibers.com · 17/09/2026I made ramen! Well, actually, it's a bobbin of Cheviot handspun, 2-ply. I think this is the crinkliest yarn I've ever made yet. It was a lot better after wet finishing, though still slightly twisty. 1191
Starfish Fibers @starfishfibers.com · 17/09/2026Everyone learns at their own pace. Be patient with yourself 😊 010
Starfish Fibers @starfishfibers.com · 17/09/2026It also helps if you’re only learning one thing at a time. Really get your knits and purls down, and only THEN start to work on stuff like increase/decrease, tinking back/laddering down, etc. Is there a knitting club in your area? Public libraries and local yarn shops often host them. 110
Starfish Fibers @starfishfibers.com · 17/09/2026I tell everyone I teach a new skill to practice it for just 20 minutes a day. Long enough to help build muscle memory, short enough that you can only get so frustrated. And if it’s just not working, put it down for a few days and come back later. Don’t give up completely ❤️ 110
Starfish Fibers @starfishfibers.com · 17/09/2026Bummer you can’t splice it, but that’s pretty cool that it’s all recycled! 110
Starfish Fibers @starfishfibers.com · 17/09/2026Is it a high enough wool content you can wet-splice it? 100
Starfish Fibers @starfishfibers.com · 16/09/2026Here's the latest photos of Celestial Wool and Fibers Starry Sock! We've finally finished swatching for it, and I'm so excited to really show off how stunning this yarn is. 010
Starfish Fibers @starfishfibers.com · 15/09/2026Here's everything I made that placed at the Monterey County Fair this year! Super happy with the results 😊 Details in the alt text. 1121
Reposted by Starfish FibersReina @ home @tarantunya.bsky.social · 15/09/2026I think the coolest part about being some form of artist is that I can just go “wow I wanna do/make/draw/crochet something like that” and BAM I do it and it’s there and I made it with my hands 1525
Starfish Fibers @starfishfibers.com · 14/09/2026Thank you to our wonderful booth team yesterday at the Moose Lodge! The pop-up was a huge success, and we're already looking forward to Lambtown! 000
Starfish Fibers @starfishfibers.com · 14/09/2026I'm getting a lot better at lazy joints with nalbinding - swatches for the shop are the perfect way to practice! I think if I ever make my own socks, I'm going to do them this way even though it takes longer than knitting. Yarn is Celestial Wool and Fibers Starry Sock in the Chestnut Roan colorway. 000

Starfish Fibers @starfishfibers.com · 12/09/2026You may have the same problem with knitting, to be honest. That’s why I learned nalbinding, it’s way way gentler on my hands and arms. I can nalbind even on days I can’t knit or crochet. 110
