I am going to stick some triggers warnings in here, and none of this is a "cry for help" or wanting sympathy, it's context. This dismissal of the impact of burnout is harmful. Whereas @carladenyer.bsky.social acknowledgment is important. 1/5

Lovely event honouring Nick Drake last night.
A printed concert programme. Titled: "Recreating and Honouring the Nick Drake Bateman Room Recital with special guests Peter Rice and Henry & Constance Kirby".

Text reads: "Bateman Auditorium (formerly Bateman Room), Gonville & Caius College, Friday 1st May 2026, 19:45."

"In 1968, Nick Drake and Robert Kirby organised an evening recital which would be their first dedicated concert. This took place in the Bateman Room of Gonville & Caius College."

"Over half a century later, this recital will replay the songs of this concert with arrangements, and other since popular songs from Nick Drake’s discography, in the same location where the original took place."

The programme is split into two sets. Set 1, titled "Original Set", consists of "Time Of No Reply", "My Love Left With The Rain" marked with an asterisk, "Made To Love Magic", "Day Is Done", and "The Thoughts Of Mary Jane". Set 2, titled "Solo", consists of "River Man", "Northern Sky" marked with a dagger symbol, "Things Behind The Sun", "Place To Be", and "From The Morning".

A musicians section lists the performers and their colleges as follows: Cameron Fox on guitar and vocals from Gonville & Caius College; Pollyanna Chamberlain on violin from Homerton College; Oscar Lloyd on violin from Selwyn College; Hope Broome Saunders on viola from Homerton College; Celso Laque on cello from Homerton College; Hei-Lam Wong on double bass from Homerton College; and Evie Hrydziuszko on flute from Homerton College.

Additional notes state: "All songs written by Nick Drake", "Transcriptions made from the Robert Kirby arrangements by Lucas Harley, Homerton College". The asterisk indicates an original arrangement by Lucas Harley, and the dagger indicates a duet with Niamh Gallagher of Homerton College.

At the bottom, the programme notes that the event is supported by the Gonville & Caius College Music Society, with thanks to the Homerton College Music Society, and that it is raising money for Mind.Selfie-style photo of people queuing for the event in a stone-walled passage (in front of Bateman Auditorium at Caius in Cambridge). At the front, I am smiling alongside my friends.

The UK must immediately and unequivocally suspend support for the US military. The Government have tried to appease him, then they tried to say they're standing up to him. Words aren't enough - it's time for action.

Getting snow where you are? Did you know that there are 121 categories of snowflake? ❄️ This graphic is an old favourite which gives an overview of the 39 intermediate categories: www.compoundchem.com/2014/12/10/s... 🧪
Infographic titled “Snowflakes: Classifications & Shapes” showing how snowflakes are categorized by crystal form. Sections illustrate column crystals, plane crystals, combinations of column and plane crystals, rimed snow crystals, aggregation, germs of ice crystals, irregular particles, and other solid precipitation. Each category uses simple blue icons with codes (e.g., C1, P3). A key explains three classification levels: 8 general, 39 intermediate, and 121 elementary categories, highlighting the wide variety of snowflake shapes found in nature.

#OnThisDay in 1859, Charles Darwin's On the Origin of Species was first published. Much of the original manuscript was used as scrap paper by Darwin's children. On the back of this painting of a house is an original manuscript page from Origin! #CambridgeUniversityLibrary (DAR 185)
A painting of a house by one of Charles Darwin's children. We see a simple outline of a house with a pitched roof, two chimneys and some lead-paned windows. We see the kitchen fire, with a clock on a mantle, and some cast iron pots on a window sill. In a window at the stop of the house we see a cat, or possibly a squirrel! A hand-written page of Charles Darwin's original manuscript for the Origin of Species. There are many ink blots and crossings out, and some foxing consistent with its age.
