Has NPR become just another flunky sell-out to dRump’s fascist deathgrip on journalism? So disappointed in NPT’s coverage of the explosive-diarrhea story. Sure, name Mexico and Taco-Bell, NPR, and not the packagers (Taylor Farms), distributors (SYSCO), and sicko factory farming practices.

I agree it’s excellent. So is the “new” West Side Story and the “new” Rent. I have a daughter studying Classical Voice and Opera at McGill but she spent her teen years as a “Musical Theatre Kid.” She performed in local productions of all three of these.

Lonergan himself remarked that in Insight “meaning” meant much more of an “is / “is not” (Wittgensteinian) thing but that post-Insight “meaning” came to become much more multivalent. Andrew Beards has some interesting insights into exactly this question in his book “Lonergan, Meaning, and Method.”

I establish a window of time — say 20, 49, 90 mins, whatever— & within it give myself permission to attend to ONE & ONLY ONE thing. If I start to drift (& panic), I breathe & tell myself “this is where I’m supposed to be (according to me), doing what I’m supposed to be doing (also according to me).

✝️ Yes humanity manifests its privations in depressing multiplicities. Corruption, exploitation of disempowered & dispossessed, greed & idolatry. But 2day we trust that God knows our sin & loves us anyway. Thus we endeavour to forgive, cherish & sustain one another, as God through Christ has given.

With degrees of dejection I’ve found it best to be wary about the word “Lonergan” itself. Instead I’ll venture: “Operations of consciousness” “Two-fold act of understanding” “Feelings as intentional responses to value” “Emergence/Flourishing/Decline” (+) I’ll gauge response & proceed cautiously.
