I can't express what I truly feel in 300 characters, but I just want to stress out that although I drew a pony in this, it kinda applies to a lot of other stuff regarding identity!🏳️‍⚧️💖🧁 • #mlp #mlpfim #mylittlepony #lyraheartstrings

the things tavi says

Vinyl Scratch is in the foreground, looking towards the background in admiration at Octavia. Octavia is speaking while petting her pet cat, Scribbler. Light from the window illuminates her from behind, but what's more is a strange glow that emanates from her mouth, filling the air with violet wisps and bathing all with a brilliant color. The cat purrs, generating its own orange hues that mix with Octavia's.

Inspired by Chapter 1 of "The Things Tavi Says", by shortskirtsandexplosions. This one was in the works for two weeks. The fic was incredibly inspiring, and I love it to death. I wanted to get it perfect. I don't think I succeeded, but after a certain point I just was at a loss for what to change.

It feels like yet another point of evidence for the "trier's curse". The harder you try to ascertain something, the less success you have. I spent 3 days lining Octavia's face alone, because I just couldn't get the face to look "right". And yet, when I made my sub-1-hour doodles, it comes effortlessly, and it looks fine immediately. I spent a week nitpicking the shading, but things always felt like something was "missing", like the impact and beauty I wanted was just not showing. And yet, I shaded that Lyra in the rain in 5 minutes, and it looked striking.

Perhaps paying less attention actually causes more success. By hyperfocusing on making it "perfect", it filters the usual creative soul, and then it simply no longer looks "right" even if by all technical means, it is correct and well-made. A filter over the soul of the image, caused by excessive caution and care for perfection. Funny, because this story was written as a "one chapter a day" challenge, and it's about the most impactful thing I've ever read. Perhaps it benefitted from avoiding being endlessly fussed over.

Perhaps I'll try to draw this again someday, when I am more experienced and confident, and do it the justice it deserves. This story is wonderful and you should read it.

history (alt title: fantasy)

A painterly depiction of Vinyl Scratch and Octavia. The two's eyes are locked. Octavia clutches Vinyl's forehoof close to herself, giving Vinyl a look of... fascination? pleading? anticipation? - while Vinyl returns her gaze with a smile that skirts between nervous and reassuring.

Had this idea in my head for a few days, but couldn't quite get it right when I first sketched it up. This time around, I got the expressions and pose I wanted, and the rest was experimenting with shading and background. I think I found something special in those departments.

Merch? Merch! Everyone loves to keep a memory in the form of a piece of clothing, so as always, you can purchase a T-shirt for this year's HHH (it might be inefficient at keeping you warm during Hearth's warming, though). Just order it with your ticket: tickets.hammonias-no...

Unten links befindet sich das Wasserzeichen "made with mematic".

This yeah I got diagnosed with a lot of stuff. I sometimes am mad how broken my body and mind is and how it would've changed my life being treated in my childhood. On the other hand im also extremly happy Im getting closer and closer to an easier life. I can finally breath, I can finally THINK!
