sure, i admit there would be more money in the big stuff, but to the youtube people who watched routinely, we know about it. you showed us last time, and 2 weeks ago and 3 weeks ago. there was more variety and creativity in the small stuff. just my personal opinion of course. it's so one note now

Greg @stantman2122.bsky.social · 14/12/2024

all those small tabletop type items were so damn cool. but then they started pushing their prophecy and higher end custom stuff to no end and basically stopped caring about the small stuff. it was obvious their rapid growth totally distracted them from that stuff. made me think they stopped caring.

Greg @stantman2122.bsky.social · 14/12/2024

obviously the philosphy and politics and everything aside, the thing i didn't really like is how much they tried to market and advertise their prophecy and other higher end custom stuff using wyrmlife. when i first found out about them, it was dice trays and vaults. and was so tempted to buy (1/2)

020

Greg @stantman2122.bsky.social · 14/12/2024

i know the wyrmlife series is meant to be a sort of deep dive into the company as a whole...and in a lot of cases it's been quite interesting. but the narrative seems to have shifted from a creative take on business, to hellhole that isn't providing any real substance, just chaos.

Bought my 2 year old nephew a set of wooden play tools this year for Xmas. I'm thinking next year he gets more tools to the collection and maybe a toddler sized workbench made by Unca Gweg as he likes to call me haha

Many thanks! She won't be forgotten :) Silly me, I forgot to show the picture haha

I made steps for my kitty earlier this year before she passed. Such a simple project but the amount of joy it brought me seeing her just waltz up the steps like a queen onto the bed made me so giddy. Miss her always 🥺🥹

Greg @stantman2122.bsky.social · 10/12/2024

honestly, i'm so here for this. in many other aspects of my life, i like discreet organization and things hidden. but for some reason, a crafting/creative office should have loads of stuff at arms reach. can't wait to see it filled up!

110

Greg @stantman2122.bsky.social · 05/12/2024

ahhhhh so THATS the reason for the plane's turbulence

000

Greg @stantman2122.bsky.social · 02/12/2024

Oh that's also a good idea. I have a hard time breaking from my own preferences though. I really love the clean neutral modern look of the naturals. I only ask about the rustic/stained look cause I'm assuming it's likely a more purchaser friendly look if you go by the trends lol.

110

Greg @stantman2122.bsky.social · 02/12/2024

certainly a process for another time! i got tired just thinking about doing all that haha

010

Greg @stantman2122.bsky.social · 02/12/2024

appreciate it! I do like how the proportions ended up. its a nice little decor set in a different take than a lot of the xmas tree decor out there these days. thought i could boost it with the stain but oh well. the stain looks slightly dull and rustic while the natural is clean, fresh and modern

010

Greg @stantman2122.bsky.social · 01/12/2024

it is pine, and i did use conditioner haha. probably just a symptom of how last minute the whole project was. didn't plan it all out to the fullest. kinda just went with it and assumed it would turn out looking great. but alas, not the case. might just clear coat the natural pine and be done with it

110

Greg @stantman2122.bsky.social · 01/12/2024

In need of a quick #woodwork hivemind opinion the stains IMO, didn't pop the way i first thought. i do like the contrast detail of the white spray paint on the stains though (to mimic snow) what do we think #woodworking friends? which has more of a vibe? which would the public prefer do you think?

Greg @stantman2122.bsky.social · 30/11/2024

many thanks! was a random last minute decision to do them actually. but i like their vibe!

Boring? nahhh...workshop photos are never boring! inspiring? exciting? yes. yes.

#Woodworking weekend. Tomorrow is finishing day. 9 sets to detail sand, dust and tack cloth, stain and clear coat. Already have 2 recipients lined up and haven't even posted them for sale yet! Hopefully I can land some sales as the calendar officially turns to December and people start Christmasing

only recco i have is Illustrated Cabinet Making. but it's quite a technical book. but a suggestion may help as well. Perhaps go browse a local library or two's woodworking collection. you can get your eyes in the books and see what might be up the recipient's alley. more technical or more narrative.

Greg @stantman2122.bsky.social · 27/11/2024

thanks! yeah, i've used a scraper on some hard wood projects before. this is simple select pine and didnt want to risk making grooves since i'm still not the most controlled with the scraper. theres also 30 trees and wanted the machine to do most of the work this time lol

010

Greg @stantman2122.bsky.social · 27/11/2024

Probably going to sit in analysis paralysis for months trying to find the exact pattern i want haha. also don't know if I want some strips to be painted or not. such a simple project but there are dozens of potential design choices haha

110

Greg @stantman2122.bsky.social · 27/11/2024

this is great!! i'm remodelling my basement and i'm putting my desk in the corner and have been thinking of doing something similar to this to add a bit of visual separation to the room. the lighting is top tier. well done!

110

Greg @stantman2122.bsky.social · 26/11/2024

Yeah! Lots of time to think "project almost done. How many more ways left are there to screw it up" lol

Greg @stantman2122.bsky.social · 26/11/2024

I very well might be the only woodworker who enjoys sanding. I find it quite relaxing actually. Anyone else have any woodworking hot takes?

210

Greg @stantman2122.bsky.social · 17/11/2024

there are quite a few weekend days where i go into the garage and intend to do a lot of work but then end up doing hardly anything. it's quite annoying when you have projects staring you in the face but you just cant muster the energy for them. i managed just 2 hours assembling wood xmas trees today

110

Greg @stantman2122.bsky.social · 17/11/2024

it is on a dvd! my girlfriend found it for me last year. it's unfortunately not the full version, with a few songs cut out from what i understand was rights issues or something. it is out there, just very very very under appreciated

110

Greg @stantman2122.bsky.social · 17/11/2024

most people i mention this christmas special to say they have never heard of it or seen it. it's incredible that probably one of if not the best christmas special has been essentially forgotten to time and never had a chance to be reintroduced to new generations

What's the trip vibe? Do you like stopping a lot and taking in the places you go to or are you going for distance? I love stopping a lot, slow pace and get to see a lot more interesting things!

Taking a crack at the trendy wood Xmas tree decor this year. I have 9 sets ready for glue and finish. But I got very sick the last 2 weeks and had to push the project. Should be better this weekend to finish them. Excited to get them into people's hands and homes #woodworking #woodwork

Set of 3 wooden Xmas tree decor pieces. 17, 13 and 9 inches tall.

To this day, i have only met one other human who has even seen A Muppets Family Christmas. It is far and away my favourite Muppets movie. The fact that people have no idea about it when i bring it up makes me sad. I feel so bad for all those people. "Old friends, new friends Home with the family"💕
