Don't know the ins n outs John, just remember him being first one (in my 8 year old head) who deserted down south ( £333,333, is the figure that somehow sticks in my head, peanuts these days). My point was really try not to get too attached, the 'stars' have been moving on ever since I can recall.

So the point of all of this, if anyone's still bothering to read my bollocks is, a few words of advice FWIW. Don't make idols out of players or managers, they're all passing through. WE are NUFC, get behind whoever is wearing the shirt and enjoy the ride. Howay the lads (whoever they are)

and that's brought us a Cup and a couple of CL campaigns. Now those players want out and we are trying a new way. One thing I'm VERY happy about/, given all the bastards have done to keep us down, is that we're taking big money off cartel clubsand, so far, spending it abroad.

It's in the lap of the gods whether this season will be a success or a disaster, my own view is somewhere in between and I'd be happy with 2 or 3 of the new lads really establishing themselves and a comfortable mid-table finish. We've tried the 'buy proven quality' option

we might just end up seeing the consistently competing club/squad that we have all been longing to see. I'm heartened like never before that we have a club that WANTS to progress year-on-year and that everyone is working towards that end. Everything is not right but I'm convinced we're trying.

of money from them, much of it last summer has been squandered and this summer the clear PLAN is to re-invest as much as we can on the best young players we can find in Europe. NUFC can be accused of being too slow and ponderous for a lot of our tastes

This summer and last we've lost 4 'idols' who all wanted out, 1 of which managed to screw over our entire season and 3 of which, contrived to finish outside European qualification in a year when the top NINE clubs in the PL managed it. We've lost NOWT of value, made a load

Beardsley, Waddle and Gazza all jumped ship for more lucrative and glamorous assignments elsewhere and of course everything that followed before and through the Ashley years. Our Club has NEVER had a plan except for taking the money and making it disappear. Until now.
