Yes, most of the atrocities that *continue* to occur are done through bureaucratic manipulation. The most vile person in the room might actually look like a people pleasing, covert-narcissistic administrator. How many human deaths are at the hands of men who look a lot like this dead fuck?

One very dead CEO and supporter of lawful evil.

Timothy Snyder, calling it as it is.

Horrible though all of this is, it is still state terror in outline, a test of how Americans will react. We can react by seeing all of this for what it is, and naming it by name: incipient state terror. We can react by associating ourselves with others are repressed before we are. Only in solidarity do we affirm law. We can remind the other branches of government that their functions are being taken over by the executive. Citizens cannot do this alone; they have to remind the rest of the government of its constitutional functions.

Repost with a fave book from your childhood

Johnny Dixon is a fictional American boy featured in a series of twelve children's gothic horror novels, 1983 to 1999, written by John Bellairs or his successor Brad Strickland. In each book, 12-year-old Johnny and his group of friends face and overcome evil forces usually bent on ending the world.[1][2][3] Alternatively, Johnny Dixon is the book series ("Johnny Dixon and the Professor" in ISFDB).[4]

Cancelled TV show you never stop thinking about.

The Peripheral is an American science fiction television series created by Scott B. Smith. Produced by Amazon, it is loosely based on the 2014 book written by William Gibson. Westworld creators Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy serve as executive producers, along with Athena Wickham, Steve Hoban, and Vincenzo Natali. Set roughly 50 years in the future, with new technology that has changed society in subtle ways, a gamer is delivered a connection to an alternate reality as well as a dark future of her own.

They really need to preserve it though, it’s phenomenal.

Fernando Botero Angulo (19 April 1932 – 15 September 2023)[3] was a Colombian figurative artist and sculptor.[4] His signature style, also known as "Boterismo", depicts people and figures in large, exaggerated volume, which can represent political criticism or humor, depending on the piece.

Robert lives in Key West. One day, he comes home and finds a package with a phone and sonic gun instead. Daniel calls him and offers him ten million dollars to kill the Fishers. Robert, aka Bob, tells Daniel no but Daniel threatens Bob’s daughter.

Bob goes to a bowling alley to speak to a man he knows called Frank. Frank is there with his sons. Bob tells him he knows Frank revealed information to Daniel about him and Bob shoots Frank and his sons. Bob takes them to go assassinate the Fishers.

Bob calls his daughter and uses a code to tell her he might die soon. She tells him she’s pregnant. Bob stops his car on the side of the road, pretending to work on it. Billy Ann sees him and offers to help. Burton and Flynne drive past. Bob sees them and takes the sonic gun, but Flynne sees him coming and warns Burton. They get in a fight but Billy Ann stops Bob by shooting him with her shotgun. Tommy arrests Bob but then someone interferes and takes him away.

The Sheriff is the one who interfered. He brought Bob to the Picketts and put an electric collar on him to keep him still while they decide what to do with him. Bob manages to escape by electrocuting Mary with his electric collar. He sets up, presumably to find and kill the Fishers.

I’d also like to give a shout out to”The Hunt” starring Betty Gilpin. When feeling depressed sometimes this movie just lifts me back up.

The Hunt is a 2020 American action horror film[a] directed by Craig Zobel and written by Nick Cuse and Damon Lindelof. The film stars Betty Gilpin, Hilary Swank, Ike Barinholtz, and Emma Roberts. Jason Blum was a producer under his Blumhouse Productions banner, along with Lindelof.[4] Zobel and Lindelof have said that the film is intended as a satire on the profound political divide between the American left and right.

It’s pretty easy to figure out. I just screen shot what I’d presume is what is happening. But I’m sure politicians and rapey religious people will try and use this info to make another claim why women cannot be allowed their natural born and inalienable autonomy.

When a population exceeds carrying capacity, it means there are too many individuals in a given area for the available resources to support, leading to a decline in population size as individuals compete for food, water, and other necessities, often resulting in increased death rates and a potential population crash.
Key points about exceeding carrying capacity:
Resource depletion:
When a population overshoots its carrying capacity, it rapidly consumes resources like food and shelter, leaving less available for the rest of the population.
Increased competition:
As resources become scarce, individuals within the population will compete more intensely for access to them, leading to stress and potential conflict.
Population decline:
Due to limited resources and competition, the population will likely experience a decline in size as individuals die off from starvation, disease, or other factors.
Environmental damage:
Overpopulation can also lead to significant environmental damage, such as habitat destruction and pollution, further impacting the carrying capacity of the ecosystem.

Not my home but I know my way around

The Wolves of Willoughby Chase is a children's novel by Joan Aiken, first published in 1962. Set in an alternative history of England, it tells of the adventures of cousins Bonnie and Sylvia and their friend Simon the goose-boy as they thwart the evil schemes of their governess Miss Slighcarp, and their so-called "teacher" at boarding school, Mrs. Brisket.

I’m rewatching “Mindhunter” and 16 minutes into the first episode of season one, Holden has a conversation that really resonates with our times. Chaotic evil’s nothing new. But we need to face it, know how identify it, and stand in opposition of it.

This one is from way back for me, but “The Way Things Work” and now “The New Way Things Work” by David Macaulay was hugely influential to me as a little kid.

The Way Things Work is a 1988 nonfiction book by David Macaulay and Neil Ardley. It's a whimsical introduction to everyday machines and the scientific principles behind their operation. The book explains the inner workings of machines, showing the technology in detail but making it accessible through Macaulay's uniquely playful illustrations.
