Money holds such importance in most people's lives that people will read normal, sane comments about money and take it personally. Imagine posting about how igneous rocks work and people start accusing you of hating people who live in deserts.
Screenshot of a two-part Bluesky thread in dark mode. The author's name and avatar are scribbled out in red.

Post 1: "the average American has like $60k in debt and this clown thinks cutting debt in half (or totally eliminating for some) is not life changing. why? because he's never been in the shoes of someone who's life WOULD be changed by that money. he's always been fed. always been housed. never had debt."

It quotes a post by Matt Darling (@besttrousers.bsky.social): "I don't think $30k is a life-changing amount of money. Median American born in 1980 will have $2m in income in their lifetime. It's a 1% increase in earnings." Post 1 has 1 reply, 1 repost and 15 likes.

Post 2: "mediocre wealthy white men named matt who want to chartsplain to people with lived experiences. does it get more bluesky than that?" It has 5 likes.

I have your pdfs on hand, but the last time we were going to meet you misplaced your passport
**The first post (top)**

On the left is a small circular profile photo of a person wearing sunglasses and a white face mask, holding up a phone as if taking a mirror selfie, in what looks like an office with ceiling lights. Next to the photo is the display name **"standard's a system!"** in bold, followed by a small Palestinian flag emoji. Then, in gray, the username **@laraaaanguyen** and **"7h"**, meaning the post was made seven hours earlier.

The post reads, on two separate lines:

"shit

I broke a window"

Below it is a row of gray icons with counts: 3 replies, a repost icon with no number, a pink heart showing 7 likes, a bar chart icon showing 176 views, a bookmark icon, and a share icon.

**The reply (bottom)**

On the left is a circular profile photo of a bald man with a reddish beard, wearing a light blue collared shirt, with a dark background and some blurred lights behind him. Next to it is the display name **"Matt Darling"** in bold, followed by a blue globe emoji and a red construction crane emoji. Below that, in gray, is the username **@besttrousers**.

The reply, in larger black text, reads:

"The good news is this adds to GDP."

Below it, in gray, is the timestamp **11:28 AM · Feb 21, 2024 · 58 Views**. A thin divider line separates this from a final row of icons: 1 reply, a repost icon with no number, a pink heart showing 5 likes, a bookmark icon, and a share icon.

**Context:** The reply is an economics joke. It refers to the "broken window fallacy," a classic idea from the 1800s economist Frédéric Bastiat. Paying someone to repair a broken window does get counted as economic activity, so it technically raises GDP (the total value of goods and services produced). But society isn't actually better off, because the money would otherwise have been spent on something new rather than just replacing what was lost. The reply playfully "consoles" the person by pointing out this technicality.matt darling wojackThis image is a screenshot of a post on X (formerly Twitter), shown in dark mode: a black background with white and gray text.

**At the top left** is a small circular profile photo of a man with a shaved or balding head and a beard, wearing a dark shirt against a light background. To the right of the photo is the display name **"Matt Darling"** in bold white text, followed by two small emoji: a globe and what looks like a red construction crane. Below the name, in gray, is the username **@besttrousers**.

**At the top right** are two small gray icons: a circular arrow symbol and three dots for the post's menu.

**The main text of the post** is written in white and reads:

"The reason the founders wanted DC to be seperated was so that Congress could better protect itself from insurrections and avoid the situation where soldiers tried to occupy Philadelphia.

Doesn't seem particularly relevant to current debates."

(The word "separated" is misspelled as "seperated" in the original.)

**At the bottom**, in small gray text, is the timestamp: **9:40 AM · Jan 6, 2021**.

**Context:** The date is significant. January 6, 2021 is the day of the attack on the U.S. Capitol, which began later that day. The post refers to a 1783 event, when unpaid Continental Army soldiers surrounded the building where Congress was meeting in Philadelphia, which helped motivate creating a separate federal district. The closing line, "Doesn't seem particularly relevant to current debates," is meant sarcastically. The author is suggesting the history is very relevant, likely to debates at the time about DC statehood, and in hindsight it reads as unintentionally timely given what happened at the Capitol that afternoon.

Now you might be thinking: An $80 watch needs like $25 worth of modification to be "truly black". What's the big deal? The big deal is that the final piece of the setup is the goshdang backplate, and NOBODY sells blacked versions of the backplates - not officially, not unofficially.

Then it gets a little bit harder to get black button replacements, because CASIO DOESN'T SELL BLACK BUTTONS. And this market is too small for economies of scale to kick in, so they cost like $20 for a replacement set. www.aliexpress.us/item/3256809...

Honestly, this *feels* intentional. In the stock photos, you can see glimpses of the silver buttons, but you can't see the fact that the *buckle* and the *caseback* are regular silver-colored, so you have to go to third-party listings to see the imperfections. www.ebay.com/itm/30701993...

The problem is that it's not really "all-black" - it has a standard black resin case+strap, gave it an inverted display, and called it a day. Intentionally or not, the promotional images for the model hides the fact there there are non-black components of the watch. www.casio.com/us/watches/g...

(kasey) Me, personally? I won the suffering contest, as in I self-reported the most amount of suffering compared to everyone else so I get to pilot until next Friday.
This is a screenshot of a dark navy blue table with white text, shown on a phone screen. It looks like a list ranking people by how close their time is to midnight.

**Heading at the top:** "Sorted by distance from midnight (closest = most distress)."

**Table columns:** Identity, Time, and Distance from Midnight. The third column shows a number and a horizontal bar next to each name.

**Rows, from top to bottom:**

1. **Kasey**, 11:59 PM, 1 minute from midnight. This row stands out. It has a dark maroon background, the name and time are in bold, and the bar is bright red and the longest of all, stretching almost across the column.

2. **Terry**, 7:00 PM, 5 hours. The bar is blue and fairly long.

3. **Sam**, 4:00 PM, 8 hours. The bar is blue and a little shorter than Terry's.

4. **Van**, 9:00 AM, 15 hours. The bar is blue and noticeably shorter.

5. **Sara**, 4:00 AM, 20 hours. The bar is blue and the shortest, just a small stub.

The bars get shorter as the distance from midnight grows, so a long bar means closer to midnight. Thin gray lines separate the rows. The red highlight on Kasey's row marks that person as the most "distressed" according to the heading.

I have decided to cut ties with my neo-reactionary counterpart
This is a screenshot of a chat message in a dark-themed messaging app, like Discord. The background is near-black charcoal, and the text is light gray or white. The top edge of the image is cut off, so a partial line of text is just barely visible there, appearing to be part of a date that begins with "October."

**The sender:** On the left is a small circular profile picture. It shows a person wearing a pale conical straw hat, dark sunglasses, and dark clothing. The photo is a close-up, and the person seems to be looking slightly downward.

**The header:** Next to the picture, in bold white text, is the username "esthie, but she prefers standard." To its right, in smaller, dimmer gray text, is the timestamp "9:24 AM."

**The message:** Below the username, in a large, plain font, is a block of text that fills most of the image. It reads:

"(van) you are a baffling person. I don't know why you keep thinking that I'm trying to dominate you in the conversation or that every line I send is a power play. You keep hurting my system's feelings and I've decided that I'm not going to let that happen anymore. You pay money to the world's most powerful white supremacist to get boosted on his white supremacist social media feeds. Your emotional intelligence is garbage and so is your moral spine. Fuck off and don't talk to us again"

**Tone and layout:** The message is left-aligned and wraps across ten lines. There are no emojis, images, reactions, or other attachments. The wording is angry and final, ending a relationship or conversation. The "(van)" at the start appears to be a tag identifying which member of a plural system is speaking, and the phrase "my system's feelings" suggests the writer is part of one.

you can't, but you can make a custom filter feed (here's mine) - i think @radtranslib.bsky.social has a copy of my code somewhere on github

Fundraisers from people you do not know
Hide donation and mutual-aid asks from accounts you neither follow nor are followed by. Asks from your own people still come through.

Use this instead of Fundraisers, not alongside it — with both on, the plain one hides your friends’ asks again.
Known means you, anyone you follow, and anyone who follows you. It reads your follows and followers, both public, so it needs no extra permission.
While that list is still loading the filter sits out, rather than risk hiding a friend it cannot recognise yet.

A post on X from Itamar Ben-Gvir

For every tear of an Israeli mother, a thousand Lebanese mothers must weep. All of Lebanon must burn!

With all due respect to the Americans, Israel must make it clear to the entire world that the blood of our sons and the security of our citizens are not forfeit. All of Lebanon must burn. Our supreme duty is to protect the citizens of Israel and the soldiers of the IDF, and this commitment takes precedence over every other consideration.

I told the Prime Minister, even in our private meetings: For every tear of an Israeli mother, a thousand Lebanese mothers must weep.

Enough with the ping-pong. In the Middle East, you don’t win with measured responses and restraint—you need to go berserk. To obliterate. To crush the terror.

i want to write something on education policy because this tweet was circling around and all I can think is that the lib community needs to be vaccinated against this pseudo-intellectual brainrot
Here's a description of the image:

The image shows a social media post displayed in dark mode (black background, light text). In the top left corner, the username and profile picture have been covered over with a bright blue scribble, hiding the poster's identity. In the top right corner, there's a dark "Follow" button, along with a small icon that looks like a crossed-out circle (possibly a mute or notification-off symbol), and three dots for more options.

Below that is the main text of the post, written in a light cream/white color. It reads: "The belief that inequalites in student performance in America stem from inequalities in school funding is false, quite trivially so, and you don't really see serious people defending it anymore, but it nevetheless persists as an uncontested 'ghost fact' among many liberals."

Note that the post contains a couple of spelling errors in the original text: "inequalites" (missing a "i") and "nevetheless" (missing an "r").

This appears to be a screenshot of a phone screen showing a web page from a browser app, displayed with a dark (black) background and mostly white and light gray text.

**Top section:**
At the top left, in large bold white text, is the title "Human Relay."

Below that is a dark gray rounded rectangle bar containing several pieces of information: the word "Connected," the number "7 total," a button labeled "Turbo," and another button labeled "Clear History." The right edge of this bar is slightly cut off by the edge of the screen.

**Filter buttons:**
Below that is a row of oval-shaped filter buttons. The first one, labeled "All," is highlighted in bright blue with white text, showing it's currently selected. The others, in dark gray with light gray text, are labeled "Pending," "Running," and "Complete."

A second row of similar gray oval buttons reads "Denied," "Withdrawn," and "Error," followed by a thin vertical divider line.

A third row has two more buttons: "Whitelist (673)" and "Chat" with a small diagonal arrow icon next to it.

**First entry card:**
Below the buttons is a card with a bright green vertical line down its left edge, indicating a completed or successful status. Inside:
- An identification code: "e8f1ad117cd5de30"
- On the right, a green oval badge reading "COMPLETE"
- A dark box containing the word "hostname" in green monospace text (like computer code)
- Below that, in gray text: "relay-ping coalesce drive, expect one wake-up"
- Details listed: "client: cc-115," the time "9:16:19 PM," and "stdout (exit 0)"
- Another dark box with a code string: "e5e290925215"
- Two buttons at the bottom labeled "Whitelist," with the second one showing a small orange padlock icon, suggesting it's locked or restricted

**Second entry card:**
Another card begins below, also with a green line on the left edge. It shows:
- An identification code: "2eeba0dd75015cd6"
- A green "COMPLETE" badge on the right
- A dark box with green monospace text showing a command that …

Here's a description of this image from SpongeBob SquarePants:

This shows Patrick Star, a pink starfish-shaped cartoon character, kneeling on the sandy ocean floor. He has a wide, cheerful open-mouthed smile and his eyes are looking off to the side. Patrick is wearing his usual shorts, which have a green and purple flower pattern.

He's kneeling on a red mat (like a small rug or cushion) that's shaped like a plus sign or cross. In front of him sits a brown, round object that looks like a large rock or boulder — it has a tan or beige tag attached to the front with a blue number "8" written on it, giving it the appearance of a bowling ball or a labeled item of some kind.

The background shows the light blue-green underwater setting typical of the show, with a wavy blue and white patterned wall or barrier behind him, suggesting he's outdoors on the sea floor near some kind of structure.

A mirror selfie taken indoors, likely in a workshop or small business space.

A person with long, dark, wavy hair falling past their shoulders stands in the center of the photo. They're wearing round wire-frame glasses and have a relaxed, slightly playful expression, with their head tilted a bit to the side. They're dressed in a maroon (deep red) short-sleeved T-shirt and black pants, paired with black sneakers that have red laces. On their wrist is a red watch or fitness band.

They're holding a bright pink or hot-pink phone up near their face to take the photo, partially covering the lower part of their face. Their other arm is raised and pointed forward, hand formed in a finger-gun or pointing gesture toward the camera/mirror. A red phone strap or lanyard hangs down from the phone.

The person is standing on a round wooden platform or stool, positioned on a patterned rug over a dark wood floor.

In the background, the room has white brick-textured walls and includes several notable items:
- A window air conditioning unit mounted high on the wall
- A sliding glass door to the left, leading outside where you can glimpse a street with parked cars and buildings
- Sheer white curtains hanging over a window on the right side, alongside a light-colored ruffled or pleated curtain closer to the camera
- An industrial-looking piece of equipment in the background, possibly embroidery or sewing machinery, with visible mechanical parts and spools
- A small round mirror or decorative object on the left wall
- A small potted plant on a stand near the left side
- A water bottle on the floor in the lower left corner
- A stuffed animal or small plush toy visible in the bottom left corner of the frame

The overall lighting is bright and natural, suggesting daytime, with light coming in through the windows and door.

i made a flowchart explaining a new feature in my custom harness and I don't know if it's novel. so i'm going to upload this diagram here and post about it
This is a hand-drawn flowchart on a white background, sketched with black arrows and curved connector lines, titled "reveries workflow" at the top. It lays out a nine-step process, with text labels and small emoji icons marking each step. Here's the flow, in order:

**Step 1** (marked with a fire emoji): User says something to a harness, and a system prompt containing an explanation of this reverie system is sent.

An arrow points down to:

**Step 2** (marked with a sparkles emoji): The LLM (the AI) thinks about it in a live thinking trace, or an interrupted thinking trace.

An arrow points down to:

**Step 3** (marked with a shocked-face emoji): A fresh, non-blacklisted, non-previously-surfaced keyword, keyphrase, or sentiment trigger is detected.

From here, the path splits into two directions:

**Step 3a** (marked with a smiling face emoji), off to the left: If no reveries are triggered, an arrow loops back up and to the left, connecting to a large text block on the far left side of the image that reads: "4a. The standard agentic workflow continues, branching off into three standard things: tool calls with output, user interruption, etc." This block has two arrows pointing away from it toward the upper right, rejoining the main flow near step 1 and step 2.

If a trigger does occur, an arrow continues down to:

**Step 4**: The inference stream stops midway (whether or not it was a message), but anything already inferred stays in the LLM's context.

Thank you for your generous offer of Kidney donation. We appreciate the time and effort that you have put into this journey.

The living donor multidisciplinary team at UCH University of Colorado Hospital’s Transplant Center has reviewed your case. We have agreed that Kidney donation would not be in your best interest and your case has been declined.

If you remain interested in donation, we will direct you to any of the many transplant programs in the United States. Program standards and criteria vary widely. Attached is a letter from the United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS). It describes the services and information offered to patients by UNOS and the Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network.

Again, thank you for your offer and we wish you good health.

The page has a very light gray background with monospaced text, mostly in shades of blue-purple, pink, and green.

**Top section**

A small four-pointed star icon sits beside the blue heading "ox alpha cost tracker," followed by a gray subtitle: "what the omage would've cost."

Below that, in very large bold letters, is the figure **$299.44**, colored in a gradient that shifts from deep pink on the left to purple on the right.

Under the big number, a line of gray text explains: "ox-alpha not-spent across four pipes (omp · kapsrh · opencode · hermes), priced at GLM-5.3 (Z.ai)," followed by a small green dot indicating a live status. A second line reads "updated 9:30 AM."

**Four summary cards (left to right)**

These are white rectangular boxes in a row:

1. **Rolling 7D not-spent** — $299.44 in pink, with "770.9M tokens" beneath.
2. **Zero-caching worst case** — $1,086.03 in blue, with the note "if every token were fresh input."
3. **Billed turns** — 3,577 in black, with "all four pipes" beneath.
4. **Tokens re-read from cache** — 90% in blue, with "690.0M tokens" beneath.

**Data table**

A white table with columns: Pipe, Turns, Input, Cache Read, Output, and Not-Spent. The Not-Spent figures appear in green.

| Pipe | Turns | Input | Cache Read | Output | Not-Spent |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| omp | 3,048 | 21.4M | 570.7M | 1.2M | $183.77 |
| kapsrh | 130 | 52.5M | 483.8K | 593.1K | $76.17 |
| opencode | 386 | 2.4M | 47.5M | 279.6K | $16.99 |
| hermes | 13 | 2.4M | 71.3M | 153.3K | $22.50 |

**First chart — "daily not-spent · since aug 22 (denver)"**

Three wide horizontal bars, each filled with a gradient from blue at the top to pink-purple at the bottom. They step down in height from left to right: the tallest is labeled 08-22, the middle one 08-23, and the shortest 08-24. Each bar is very wide, taking up roughly a third of the page width.

"libraries and bookstores routinely destroy their own books as a normal part of operations" is a counterintuitive fact. kind of like how machine dishwashers use less water than handwashing. of course, an LLM would have told 404's writers that if they bothered to ask one before hitting "publish"
Below the hidden username, in white text:

"A perfect conceit for the 20s: the world's biggest bookstore has become a destroyer of books"

**Quoted post (in a bordered box below)**

"amazon being so secretive we gotta apple airtag a book shipment to see that they're buying and destroying them for AI but also having this on the warehouse front door:"

**Photograph inside the quoted post**

Beneath that text is a color photograph taken outside a low, modern commercial building — the entrance to a warehouse or office. The scene is shot at dusk or in the evening.

At the center are a pair of glass double doors with white metal frames and long vertical handles. The dark glass reflects a parking lot behind the photographer: parked cars, a deep blue twilight sky, silhouettes of palm trees, and a small glowing yellow-and-blue sign in the distance.

To the left of the doors is a large window covered with a decal of a circular logo. The circle has a black background with a cream-colored border, and across the top in bold cream letters it reads "VGT3." Inside the circle is a cartoon dinosaur — a gray Tyrannosaurus rex drawn from the side, mouth open wide showing rows of white teeth and a red tongue, with a fierce, grinning expression. In its small clawed hands it holds an open book with a bright red cover, as if reading it.

To the right of the doors is another window decorated with cartoon plant decals: a tall palm tree with a pinkish-red trunk and green fronds, and a smaller bright green leafy plant beside it. A small white notice sign with the amazon logo is posted on that window; the smaller print is not legible, but it includes a red circular "no" symbol.

In front of the building runs a horizontal metal guardrail, painted light gray. On the right side of the frame sits a rectangular trash bin with a speckled beige stone-textured body and a black lid. The ground in front is pale concrete pavement.

**First post — Krishan Patel (@Krishan_A_Patel), dated June 20, 2024.** The profile picture is a photo of a large tan-coloured dog lying down. A small padlock icon sits next to the name, indicating a protected account. The text reads: "This rant against me misquotes me multiple times, is unhinged at several points, and largely indirectly complains about practical politics itself, but the ultimate answer to the question it poses is yes – people like me (normal liberals) are needed to win."

Below the text is a large link-preview image with rounded corners. It is a close-up selfie of a young man with medium-brown skin, short dark hair, thick eyebrows, and a full dark beard and moustache. He is smiling slightly with his mouth closed, looking directly at the camera, and a white wireless earbud is visible in his left ear. He is sitting in an aeroplane cabin: behind him are rows of dark grey seat backs, white overhead luggage bins, and several other passengers, some seated and some standing in the aisle. Overlaid across the lower-left corner of the photo is a black rectangle with white text reading: "Do We Really Need Krishan A. Patel?" Small grey text underneath the image reads: "From newsletter.ordoliberal.com."

The interaction row shows 24 replies, 15 reposts, 112 likes, and 22K views, followed by bookmark and share icons.

**Second post — Rocio (@neogaia), dated June 20, 2024.** The display name reads "Rocio" followed by a Palestinian flag, a Ukrainian flag, a red rose emoji, and then "neogaia.bsky.social". The profile picture is a photo of a woman with dark hair wearing dark-rimmed glasses, outdoors with greenery behind her. The text reads: "That was a lot of words. Scary but maybe flattering they think you're influential?" Then, after a blank line: "For Twitter: I am a radical Leftist & I've hung out with Krishan IRL. When I read the accusations that he's a cold calculating politician thought: he's just a guy from Orange county!"
