Tonight, we celebrated with another group of students as they graduated from @staidanscs.bsky.social! We are sad to say goodbye & see them go, but more importantly, we are proud of their goodness, huge talent, achievements & potential to do great things. The future is exciting & brighter for us all!

We left areas of grass uncut @staidanscs.bsky.social to allow our thousands of newly planted native trees and hedgerows take hold. Look at what has sprung out of the ground in just a few short weeks! Why do we cut grass so short at all?

I relived the 80s today, myself & @frbryanshortall.bsky.social used to do these back then. Darren the artist, actually knew us when we went to #breakdance at the Central Bank! Thanks to @foroige.bsky.social Brookfield for bringing even more colour to @staidanscs.bsky.social. Be kind to your mind!!!

Adding colour to a school is what it's all about & @staidanscs.bsky.social shines so brightly on & through all the colour within it. Today our TY students produced stained glass ornaments with artist Bianca Divito and Creative Engagement. I've rarely seen anything capture us as beautifully!

I feel like @carlowweather.bsky.social today. Just had a tutorial on our new solar panels on the roof of @staidanscs.bsky.social. When the school was built, its cutting edge design maximised natural light. Now 40 years later we use that natural light in a different way. Education is the winner here!

No matter how bad the mess, it can always be tidied up. Broken things are fixable. Time does not stand still. What looks terrible today will appear infinitely better in the future. Feb. mid-term 24, we smashed out the ceilings & saw possibility. Feb. Mid-term 25, the chaos is consigned to the past!!

Just when we thought that this week couldn't get any better, 5th year @staidanscs.bsky.social student, Sandi O'Khupe has won the Leinster regional final of the Soroptimist International girls' public speaking competition. She will now represent our school in the national final in Castlebar in April.

Education is about recognising progress and rewarding it. The challenge is to make sure that every single participant experiences success and that all, including their families and friends are included and commended. Positivity and optimism are contagious!

Change nothing and nothing will change! Everything should be on the table when looking at solutions to school participation issues. Let's concentrate less on asking students curricular questions in exams & more on asking them about the bigger issues in their lives www.rte.ie/radio/radio1...
