Saturday was sewing day, today I went for art. I saw an acrylic tutorial on YouTube but was too fatigued to get those paints out, so I went with acrylic pens instead. Not great, but (a) better than nothing (b) better than I would have done a year ago and (c) way, way better than AI slop 🥰

For the first time in years I got my sewing machine out to fix a manufacturing defect in a pair of jeans I bought. I forgot to send them back in time, and now they are fixed I’m glad I didn’t. They would have gone to landfill, this way they get used!

I was watching the partial eclipse we had through my telescope (with solar filter) and tried to get a picture through the eyepiece. Unfortunately it went too low below the trees before the maximum but it was still a. Amazing experience!

There are time when just stopping is the right thing to do. On the way to getting bloodwork and pick up new meds I passed this lamppost on my bike. On the way back I stopped to get the sun behind it. It was so relaxing just to stop, look, capture the image, and chat to an older lady who was passing

I’m very finished the book I was reviewing & given all my feedback, which meant that today I work a little on the studio… Starting to make the space for the day bed between the Kallax at the back of the room, and the ones at the front. I’m done, if I don’t stop I run the real risk of a PEM attack…

Buying books online has the convenience of getting more choice more easily. And it may be cheaper. However… Your local independent can generally order you what you want, and you can’t pick 5 books and then take 30 mins at a table to pick. Support your local independent shops. They are awesome.

Some more updates! The layout for mobiles didn't quite work as I had hoped, so I made some updates this weekend. Making the tags work better, fixing issues with the images, and making it easier to read for both mobile and desktop.

I’m on the sick at the moment with a flare up of my ME, to try and keep me occupied I’ve been doing another picture (when I have the mental/physical energy at least). I’m loving seeing my improvements over time 🤩

Today was a little better. I managed this from start to finish. Practice with acrylic pens using gel pens for details. Next time I’m going to try alcohol, acrylic, and gel pens all together. When I’ve recovered more, doing this has hit my fatigue again…

The joys of #ChronicIllness... Yesterday I got a hair cut. I adore the results, I was aiming for something a bit more extreme than I normally do, maybe a little cyber punky. By the end of the cut I had a tick in 1 eye, and was absolutely broken. Today everything hurts and I think it's a bed day.

My hearing aids came with a travel case. Great, and I need it with me all the time so that the delicate wires don't get damaged if I need to take them out for any reason. But... Every time i catch sightbofnit i swear brain gets freaked about the strange mouse that has appeared 😂😅

So... My hearing aids work best with an iPhone... So once I know that I am keeping them (in about 3 weeks) I'm thinking of making the switch back. So I was just looking at what I can get one for saw this reccomendation. I know they got big, but do I really need a wall mount for it? 😅🤣

So... Let's try making some Christmas alcohol marker drawings. Number 1 a caftoony Christmas tree. I'm happy with the shading, and the lights. I really want to do some metallic posca tinsel but and terrified of ruining it 😅🫣🤣

I got the water colours out again today. The new lights over the dining room table make the world of difference, but I can see I've not practiced for a while... All things considered not the worst things I've made, and it was fun 🤩

Start of 2 water colour pictures. One of an old English sheepdog, the other a mountain pocture. With sand in front of it

More details on the 2 pictures, the dog has shading for dark areas, and shadows, the mountains have a sky, rudimentary trees and the start of a water front.

Almost finished sketches. The dog has more shading, and some highlights for where the furnis catching the sun. The mountains have stars, snow highlights on the ridges, and some white horses on the waves.

What do we do when we're super stressed and a little down about our health? Take the most complex, expensive Lego set we own, that was an absolute nightmare to build and falls apart of you so much as look at it wrong. And try to mount it on the wall using a bracket you 3d printed...

Last week I caught a little bug. Just a cold that I barely knew was there. Sore throat, blocked nose, some coughing in the morning. But my chronic conditions kicked into overdrive and laid me out. Yesterday I at least managed to draw from bed. A new bookmark 😊 Not great, but at least I tried!

Last week I shared my failed towered house because my fineliner ran out and i rushed it with alcohol markers that were just too bold. Well, i pack of Windsor and Newton fineliners arrived and this morning I thought I'd try to rescue it. Not wonderful, but I'll take it. #KeepLearning #ArtPractice

Ahh... What a relaxing game! I've been playing with #TinyGlade for a while & just got back into it watching YouTube tutorials. Hours dissapear! No power ups, challenges, or stress. Just build your diarama & chill out. At first glance it's too simple, but has so many possibilities! It's brilliant!

Failed art today! I took the tower on the postcard, painted it with water colour trying out some new techniques & it was... OK. Then I went to fineline the details. Only... My fineliner is empty and i have no patience. So i used a different brush that u hoped i could control. Spoilers. I couldn't 😭🤣

First washes on a loose sketch of a tower on a hill. The grass is a very see through gree. The sky a shade of blue, and threes a deeper shade of green, but still transparent. The house/tower already has 2 layers of light and dark sandy brown. Theroof has a transparent red wash.

So I wanted to see if my tower was a first time lucky, or could I redo it. I started with high quality watercolour paper and aside from not using enough of the paper I'm happy. Then I tried a bookmark, and tried to use colour theory and alcohol markers for the shading. Not great, but not bad either😊

Relaxation. I went to buy books and this one just happened to be at the counter. I couldn't say no. I have a delivery of #Ohuhu markers coming to day to use in the book. I also got a hot air cool to help speed up the process if drying the pain between layers and practiced some techniques 😊

A week in pain and relaxation... First up pian. These are the after pictures of the cable management that caused the blood on the carpet. The #LinusTechTips magnetic cable management system is awesome. Paired with a cable tube so there is only one umbilical rather than lots of wires and I'm 😊
