I'm English and a Rugby League fan. We call the ball 'the football' and it sends soccer fans in to a right tissy "ITS A RUGBY BALL NOT A FOOTBALL!!!!" Soccer fans are weird. We English are weird. So English soccer fans are a whole new level of weird

Today I learnt that TK Maxx is called TJ Maxx in the US. Every day is a school day.

I quit my role recently as a Head of Cyber Security and now work as a Prison Officer because I woke up one morning and couldn't be bothered with it anymore. When I told my friend who was an infosec manager at a Uni he said he'd also quit for a job outside tech.

This Artemis 2 mission is breaking my brain. How is the moon so far away? I can literally see it and it looks like I could drive to it in about an hour (if my car could fly). And yet its actually 238,855 miles away. The thought of people being that far away from Earth is just incredible.

This isn't really relevant to your post but I can't help but ask... The number of that house is 55475. Is there really that many houses on that street or does the US have some other way of numbering houses? I don't think I've ever seen a house number in the UK bigger than about 300.

It's only that shape because the US hasn't mastered curves yet. The original plans were for it to look just like the "doughnut" but the yankie builders didnt know where to get curved girders from.
Overhead view of "the doughnut" which is the nickname of GCHQs building which is doughnut shaped i.e. circular with a hollow circular centre.

I have a different favourite series of Trek every day. That's the brilliance of it, each series offers something different and yet at its core is still Trek. Live long and prosper

Robin Askwith played the role of Marcus Hornby in the British sitcom Benidorm.

I didn't realise until now that the actor who played Marcus Hornby in Benidorm was properly famous.

Having watched the first 3 episodes of Star Trek: Starfleet Academy I have 1 major issue with this show... I shouldn't have to wait a week for each new episode. Put them all on now you cowards. The show executives are without honour.

I once heard someone describe Star Trek as Gay Space Communism and it's a very good description.

The little inlet on the top of the nose; will that move air through the side pods or into the cockpit? I'm trying to decide if it's part of the overall aerodynamics or just something to keep the driver cool... Or possibly both

Hugo Boss, although he was a Nazi. Adolf Dassler (founder of Adidas) was German. They should have gone with the Adidas stripes for the cars.

Chocolate digestives! La-di-da someone is doing well for themselves. When I was growing up in Yorkshire we couldn't afford biscuits. We had to make do with dunking cardboard in our tea

I support the New Orleans Saints in the NFL. I choose them for no other reason than when I first started watching it in the 90s I thought New Orleans sounded exotic and the black and gold jerseys like great.

When I was a kid I used to envy the US for having this mysterious Sega console called the Genesis. It wasn't until many years later that I realised it was the same console we had in the UK but had a different name. In the UK it was called the Megadrive

A simple solution to this would be to have a central register of 'qualifications' so if someone joins from another trust their qualifications can be easily checked. I'm guessing it's the inability to verify what training people have had which has led to this nonsense

In the UK, when the Queen died the cost of changing the Royal Crest everywhere (post boxes, military uniform, etc) was so astronomical that we did what we always do and only update it when things need updating like new Royal Mail vans being replaced. There's still 'ER' crowns everywhere even now

My only worry about this show is that Holly Hunters character hasn't sat in the same position on the Captains chair more than once and I just don't see how they can keep that up for more than 2 seasons

Can I ask (purely out of interest) how they share the episodes with you? Do they send you DVDs or is there a secret streaming platform they give you access to?

The wearing of things like this is also cultural as well as religious. I bet there's more than a few Bajorans who wear the earring whilst not been particularly religious. I really love that Star Trek has done this

Basically any word ending is 'ize' would be 'ise' in English. So for example, terrorise, specialise, monetise, etc

I don't follow football but I'm English so I know a thing or two about the sport and there is no way this is true. I refuse to Google it to confirm if this is a joke or not.

In the UK, Amiga was king. I didn't know anyone who had an Atari except for the Atari consoles which you'd occasionally see. Even the computer magazines rarely mentioned Atari.

I've often wondered where the auxiliary power comes from. Is there a massive diesel generator somewhere that they power up when the main power is lost?

In Rugby League in the UK each club has a reserve team that play in their own competition and it gives opportunities for backups to get regular game time but is also used for players coming back from injury. I think the NFL talent pool would increase massively if they could run a reserve league.

This is like another British band called The Adicts. 3 relatively normal looking guys (for the era) and a lead singer who dressed like he was in a Kiss tribute act
Photo of the Adicts. There's 3 men stood at the back all wearing matching white sleeveless tops and white jeans. Then their the lead singer at the front wearing a rainbow face, a bowler hat, and his face is painted black and white for no obvious or apparent reason
