Have you tried the sugarbee? I personally don’t like it very much because of the texture but it is very sweet! IMO, there is a weird aftertaste, though.

Oh no. Fuji is too mealy/mushy for me—at least the ones available to me in the US.

So, I’ve read a bit about this and the original honeycrisp was the superior apple but it has been reproduced so many times that it’s become very inconsistent. Serious eats has a great write up on this. Cosmic crisp is still new enough/not overly commercialized that it’s consistently excellent.

This is another one I haven’t seen! I also note it’s called “Rave” in some markets so I’ll definitely be on the look out!

I have been on the hunt for these for awhile but have never seen them! We are slow to get new varieties it seems (though I was surprised I found a Lucy Glo a couple of months ago). I’m super jealous you have them! Crisp and tart sound totally up my alley.

I haven’t even seen these likely because I often sort of avoid all yellow/golden sections. I would try these! applerankings.com/goldrush-app...

Opal has been one I have wanted to try though I think it’s going to be too mealy for me. Did you see the apple rankings description? It’s one of my favorite reviews. applerankings.com/opal-apple-r...

I don’t need all the sweetness but mealiness is straight trash. I just want crispy!

• Cosmic crisp and honeycrisp are my favorites because mealy apples are abominable to my mouth. I can appreciate a pink lady or granny smith, especially for cooking. • I don’t trust anyone who is a stan for red or golden delicious. • The apple rankings website is one of the best sites.

I agree with the others saying cosmic crisp. I’ll also stan honeycrisp and pink lady. I’ll allow Granny Smith. The rest I’ve tried are a mix of mid to never again.

This happens to me so often it’s embarrassing. I then have a very hard time “thinning” seedlings and end up with too many mature plants to give away so then I plant all of those and live in an indeterminate tomato and shishito pepper jungle.

I’ve had quite a slow start to sabbatical with attending a virtual conference, a couple of snow days, and bouts of existential ennui. However, my wonderful colleagues are bound and determined to help me value and celebrate this semester. Love them so much.

I agree it’s the volume. The nausea was terrible. Whereas many friends and colleagues talked about wanting a big cheeseburger after the procedure, I wasn’t able to eat normally for a day after. But so important—thanks for the PSA. A close friend is having a precancerous polyp removed tomorrow.
