Maybe there'd be a way to have your line of sight "paint" your map dynamically when you're up there. Like you'd be looking at things naturally but the map would retain what you saw, even if it's just in broad strokes

yeah. there's something about gyunei's death specifically that's always seemed so brutal. he's not a good person, but he's got lots of emotional conflict (and might be char's stand-in for kamille) and amuro kills him in such an off-handed way

like his actions are pretty questionable. dissociated, using his newtype powers to offhandedly kill those like him for the regime. there's also a starship troopers-like detail where his "intuitive" shooting of a spaceship loaded with nukes is what causes londo bell's asteroid diversion to fail

an idea that's really taken hold with me is how amuro is the movie's other villain, and the stakes for these young people is to navigate their falling-out. the latter part is pretty conventional but the reading of amuro as a villain is something i find really interesting (and relevant to hathaway)

there's a lot in CCA to support the idea that this wasn't char's ideal plan, and that he's hurting from amuro refusing to join his campaign for spacenoid liberation. there's no reason to think char is being dishonest about ideology, even if he's being very dishonest about methods

i'm not much of a physics guy but i've read a lot of that stuff and i always feel like the scenarios are very platonic. no junk info, no having to discriminate between individual pixels, cameras always facing the right way, etc
