I received an email from my test suite that it failed while I was on the plane waiting for everyone to board. I ssh'd into my server with the Connect app, found it was a configuration issue, fixed the configuration and restarted the tests, before they closed the aircraft door!

Who are these people? I've been working from home since 2003. For me that means when I'm home, I'm working. I have to try not to work on weekends. To I woke up at 5am, found my test crashed overnight and went to fix it then. www.businessinsider.com/sneaky-rise-...

Why do news articles have to bring companies into it? I'm friends with the Microsoft, Intel and AMD developers mentioned in this article and this conversation has nothing to do with who works for what company. It's just kernel devs having a normal day 😛 www.neowin.net/news/microso...

Microsoft pulls a Windows as it breaks Linux on Intel CPUs and angers AMD in the process
An unchecked Microsoft change broke the upcoming Linux 6.13 kernel on Intel and AMD CPUs, leading to annoyance and anger.

If you can convert C into Rust, and Rust is memory safe because it catches memory errors at build time, can't you then just program in C and run this converter to find your memory errors and then you don't need Rust 🤔 www.infoworld.com/article/3732...

I know I'm spiteful. I found out I was still paying the protection plan for my dead Pixel 3 for two years after it died. So I decided to ask for a replacement, even if I don't plan on ever using it. Now I have a working Pixel 3. Even if it's refurbished. Thank you Google Fi 😛

Why the C programming language still rules
The C language has been a programming staple for decades. Here’s how it stacks up against C++, Java, C#, Go, Rust, Python, and the newest kid on the block—Carbon.

Heading out to drive to a conference in DC, I went to pack up my Dell XPS laptop only to find that it was broken. When it boots with a message saying "Please set up your BIOS" you know that's not a good sign!

Hmm, backporting some code to 5.10 for an older Chromebook, I found some trace events were not printing correctly. I think I found the cause, but it may also be a bug that's in the latest kernel but hasn't triggered by shear luck! But it's time for bed. I'll investigate it more come Monday.

I bought an Emporia power monitor a while ago to measure what was taking up the most power in my house. Unsurprisingly, my office computers came up #1, and is about a third of the total of my entire home shop.emporiaenergy.com/collections/...

Finally got fed up from #fitbit. Google has destroyed the app. So I'm moving over to the Garmin world. Just bought a Venu 3 ($100 off normal price!) and I'm trying it out. So far so good, but there's a few things I miss from fitbit, but not enough to go back.

System call trace points now can handle page faults. This means that system call parameters will be able to be read from trace points. Now I just need to implement it for the tracefs system. git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linu...
