This was reported by the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), citing counterintelligence data. The dissemination of these materials is expected in October and early November.

Russia is preparing a new wave of propaganda about the situation in occupied Oleshky. Russian forces plan to record videos featuring local residents who are expected to accuse the Ukrainian Armed Forces of shelling the city, criticize the Ukrainian authorities.

Twelve people, including three children, are currently known to have died in Russia's overnight attack on Ukraine. Search operations for missing persons are ongoing in Pryluky.

The response is straightforward: preserve social trust, distinguish evidence-based criticism from organised amplification of distrust, recognise the people keeping the country functioning, and continue supporting the Defence Forces. Social cohesion is part of Ukraine’s defence capacity.

This fits a familiar objective of Russian information warfare: demoralisation. The message is not simply that individual institutions are failing, but that Ukraine as a state and society is incapable of continuing the war and that further resistance is pointless.

In recent weeks, the pattern of hostile online messaging appears to have shifted. There seem to be fewer mass attacks on Ukrainian institutions and NGOs, and more content arguing that Ukraine can no longer sustain resistance (and should accept capitulation and destruction)

For more than a year, Russian information operations have focused heavily on undermining Ukrainians’ trust in state institutions, civil society, public figures and one another. The broader target is social cohesion: trust, horizontal networks and confidence in the state’s capacity to function.

Russia continues its relentless terror against Kyiv’s residents. In recent days, schools, hospitals, and bridges have been hit.

A russian drone struck the building of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine in Kyiv. People are still trapped inside. Some are climbing out through the windows to escape the fire and avoid being burned alive.

And after years of war, people desperately need a story with an ending. So every negotiation can start to feel like peace approaching. Sometimes what feels like the beginning of the end is simply the moment when the observer can no longer tolerate uncertainty.

There is another mechanism: borrowed control. When you cannot stop a war yourself, it is psychologically comforting to believe that governments, diplomats or powerful leaders can. “They are talking.” “They have a plan.” “They will work something out.” That belief reduces helplessness.

Alina Sarnatska @srntska.bsky.social · 28/09/2026
This is partly action bias. A summit happens. Negotiations begin. A new initiative is announced. Someone says they have a “plan.” Our brains easily turn “something is being done” into “the problem is being solved.” But an action is not the same thing as an outcome.

Why does it feel like the war in Ukraine is almost over? Not necessarily because the facts point that way. When people watch a catastrophe for years and cannot influence it, helplessness becomes exhausting. The mind starts looking for signs that someone has control.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces delivered food by drones to residents of the temporarily occupied city of Oleshky in the Kherson region. Around 4 tonnes of humanitarian aid were dropped overnight at 100 locations across the city, according to local channels.

Global sanctions are no longer working. After these drone technologies are tested in Ukraine, they will be used to strike targets around the world.

Alina Sarnatska @srntska.bsky.social · 27/09/2026
That is the broader problem. Modern weapons do not require a fully self-sufficient military industry. If dual-use electronics, engines and communications equipment can still reach Russia through re-export and grey markets, the production line keeps running.

Alina Sarnatska @srntska.bsky.social · 27/09/2026
Investigators also reportedly found US-made Texas Instruments components on the flight-control board. In other words, Russia can assemble a sophisticated strike weapon using imported civilian and dual-use technology, despite years of sanctions.

Its surveillance and communications systems are also built around commercial technology: an electro-optical camera, GSM modules with SIM cards, and a Chinese mesh-network module allowing drones to relay signals across hundreds of kilometres.

The Geran-4 is a major upgrade over earlier Shahed/Geran models: a Chinese-made micro-turbojet engine reportedly gives it far greater speed and altitude (roughly 450–500 km/h and up to 8,000 metres) making interception much harder.

Alina Sarnatska @srntska.bsky.social · 27/09/2026
Ukraine recently recovered a relatively intact Russian Geran-4 drone after an emergency landing. What investigators found inside is striking: beyond the airframe and final assembly, many of its key components appear to come from abroad.

They’re likely trying to prevent defections, but I understand why everyone thinks this is ominous - there’s a lot of intel out there that Putin is planning a major escalation, likely in the Baltic States. Which would be an absolutely moronic thing for him to do, but here we are.

⬆️ There is no need to invent a new vocabulary for communicating with Ukrainians, or even to know a great deal about the war. Ordinary human decency is enough.

⬆️ 2. It is best to avoid conversations along the lines of: “What our group plans to do when you are killed.” 3. Do not accuse parents of being irresponsible simply because they continue to live in Ukraine. ⬇️

Three tips for better communication with Ukrainians living in Ukraine. 1. Talking about “good Russians” or saying that “everyone suffers equally from the war” does not go over well during a war. Even if this is something you genuinely believe, you may want to share that belief with someone other.⬇️

Foreigners often ask whether theatres in Ukraine are still operating during the war at all. Meanwhile, not only are our theatres still working, but theatres in Sumy and Kharkiv continue to operate close to the front line. It is extraordinary. I wish more people around the world knew about them.

We presented my new book, SCAM, in Helsinki. I spoke to the Finnish audience about how the Ukrainian army is largely made up of civilians who volunteered after the full-scale invasion, and about how Ukrainians fight out of love for their families and their country.
