The authorship represent a team of queer and trans researchers, some parents of TGD kids themselves, blending together MSW students, social work practitioners, PhD students, and faculty. Hearing these parents' stories of fighting for their kids was so needed during these transphobic times.

This is based on interviews with parents/caregivers of TGD youth conducted in summer/fall 2024, who were living in, or had moved away from state banning gender affirming care. We wanted to capture some of this gender related migration/gender refugees, as well as those who couldn't/wouldn't leave.
