Drying Texas Panhandle & drought improvements across the rest of the Southern Region. For local drought information, select your location on the map: droughtmonitor.unl.edu/CurrentMap/S...
What Changed? Heavy rainfall brought widespread improvements to Tennessee, Louisiana, Arkansas, & eastern half of Texas. Texas Panhandle saw some drought relief, but Extreme Drought (D3) expansion occurred where rainfall lacked.

Most Impacted: Exceptional (D4) drought affects Arkansas, western Oklahoma, Texas High Plains & Mississippi Lower Delta. Arkansas is entirely affected by drought (D1-D4), with highest impacts in the western half.

Least Impacted: Central Texas & South-Central Louisiana remain largely wetter-than-normal for this time of the year.

(1) Sure thing! Much of the difference is due to rains in mid to late September that fell in and around Laredo but missed much of the surrounding region. Starting at the 180day mark and going back to one year to date, the area around Laredo is wetter
