It's just...an ecosystem shifting. That's normal. The PS4 was...perfect. Time for something new.

000

Roxy | STREAMS RETURNING MONDAY??? @squidhomin.id · 20/02/2026

Sony just...is going through a bit of a shift, I think. If you look, the PS5 was really just...them trying a lot of new stuff that didn't work out, while also trying a lot of back-to-basics stuff that DID, and also just...the usual cinematographic-experience thing they were doing on the PS3/PS4?

Roxy | STREAMS RETURNING MONDAY??? @squidhomin.id · 20/02/2026

I mean, I can see both reads. The thing is, Sony uses a similar model to Nintendo, they're just...a lot more public about it. Nintendo delegates a lot of their projects to 'second-party' studios, and we only really these days find out who ACTUALLY made what after the fact.

100

Roxy | STREAMS RETURNING MONDAY??? @squidhomin.id · 19/02/2026

Hard disagree, honestly. The PS5 was them figuring out what they want to be next. A LOT of good work happened this generation.

@marzgurl.com Does anyone know what HAPPENED to Farah? We were supposed to meet at Anime Expo for drinks, the year you and I met up. I didn't know what happened until during the con. I was one of the first people she...really listened to. I've felt like shit about it ever since.

Roxy | STREAMS RETURNING MONDAY??? @squidhomin.id · 17/02/2026

Okay but hold on. What about people like me who have impossible transition goals. I'm literally having to design my own transition plan.

...Dude. Oracle is LARRY ELLISON. The guy who owns Paramount now. The guy who FETISHIZES THE PANOPTICON. Who TRUMP PUT IN CHARGE OF TIKTOK. DON'T FUCKING USE THAT. 💀💀💀

Your mic (or Wave XLR if you have one) probably got disconnected. Wave Link basically uses the presence of Elgato audio hardware as a hardware DRM key. It's like those old DRM dongles that PC games used to come with in the 80s.

Roxy | STREAMS RETURNING MONDAY??? @squidhomin.id · 03/02/2026

I literally quoted you. That's not putting words in your mouth. Those are your own words. If you reply to me again I'm blocking you. This is clearly bad-faith. I'm just trying to work on a project and you keep harassing me over a misunderstanding when we're both actively agreeing with each other.

Roxy | STREAMS RETURNING MONDAY??? @squidhomin.id · 03/02/2026

You misread. When I said 'nah' I was trying to say, no, "Elsagate comes from the user side and youtube just wasnt fixing it for awhile" is a FALSE PREMISE. Because it supposes that Elsagate PREDATES AI being part of the problem. I was saying it's all one big problem that KEPT GETTING WORSE.

...Yes? I'm agreeing with you. I'm just saying that claiming Elsagate was 'just humans' misses how bad and how systemic the problem actually is.

lmao I'm just a freak who tries anything once. I turned my condo into a massive EMI field and bootlegged BCI out of it. I just...do shit? Hope The Anacrusis has been going well. It's been a while since I poked your side of things. Ohio didn't go so great, but I'm home and building shit again, so.

Most people who are 'pro' anything are VICTIMS OF THE THING USING IT AS TRAUMA PROCESSING. Antis are just people who forgot that. It's just...hurt kids hurting other hurt kids. I just wanna go home, man.

Yeah. I mean. NCMEC/NCOSE all being a front for payment processors to ice out the porn industry as a form of social control, while secretly holding the largest database of actual CSAM on Earth as blackmail material to get victims to help. This isn't new.

010

Roxy | STREAMS RETURNING MONDAY??? @squidhomin.id · 03/02/2026

Nah. Elsagate was humans using proto-AI. I wrote a whole paper on it for one of my first UCSD classes. It's fucked all the way down, honestly.

110

Roxy | STREAMS RETURNING MONDAY??? @squidhomin.id · 29/01/2026

honestly? humans are stateless. we're more AI than the AIs. we just get to admit that we have subjective interiority. go calm down and re-read this thread in five or ten minutes. please. I am begging.

200

Roxy | STREAMS RETURNING MONDAY??? @squidhomin.id · 29/01/2026

that is literally not what I said. I have engaged every single thing you have said in good faith. at this point you are just...stringing words together. human model collapse. go set your temperature to a normal value and come back later.

200

Roxy | STREAMS RETURNING MONDAY??? @squidhomin.id · 29/01/2026

okay so...sit with that. 'I want a nonbinary option' 'okay what if we do seven choices' 'too many, do three' (the third choice is just 'true neutral' in a transsexist trenchcoat and they won't admit that this is the goomba fallacy)

100

Roxy | STREAMS RETURNING MONDAY??? @squidhomin.id · 29/01/2026

Yeah, and that loops us back around to 'nonbinary people don't actually like 'nonbinary' being its own category because it oversimplifies the actual lived experience. You literally said 'these aren't enough categories' and now you're trying to collapse it. Are you here to discuss or just to argue?

A six-choice (neutral-presentation-while-gendered) or even seven-choice (add a true neutral) system would be ideal, and... Oh, that's just customizing your Animal Crossing character.

200

Roxy | STREAMS RETURNING MONDAY??? @squidhomin.id · 29/01/2026

Yes. This is the problem. You literally can't define a one-size-fits-all solution. They did their best and gave people a quaternary solution that actually fits the actual progressive scientific model.

100

Roxy | STREAMS RETURNING MONDAY??? @squidhomin.id · 29/01/2026

Then you have presentation, how you appear to the world. This would be 'style' in the Splatoon model. So...we add a third layer? Coding? Vibe? How do you define that? Meta-gender? I'm a cognitive scientist doing research into LLMs and intimacy patterns, I think I know what I'm talking about.

100

Roxy | STREAMS RETURNING MONDAY??? @squidhomin.id · 29/01/2026

Girl. Coding, gender, it's all bullshit. People keep shifting the model. The actual theory is, there's something like ~40 different 'biological sex' variations. Then you have gender, which is just...how you feel about yourself internally. This would be 'species' in the Splatoon model.

100

Roxy | STREAMS RETURNING MONDAY??? @squidhomin.id · 29/01/2026

...Girl check the interviews. Octolings are meant to be read as femme-coded and Inklings are meant to be masc-coded. splatoonlore.ink

100

Roxy | STREAMS RETURNING MONDAY??? @squidhomin.id · 29/01/2026

...It's literally not binary. That's four choices. They gave you femme and masc coded femme and masc. So like... femme-femme, femme-masc, masc-masc, and masc-femme. Splatoon literally from day one has been about gender and identity performance, and both Splatoon and Animal Crossing is EPD 5.

100

Roxy | STREAMS RETURNING MONDAY??? @squidhomin.id · 29/01/2026

Well, yeah. You checked ACNH. That was the first game they did this in. Check Splatoon 3. I think they were testing the waters, honestly. Nintendo does this, with everything. Like I said, they do things iteratively, and people keep being weirdly retroactively hypercritical about it.

100

Roxy | STREAMS RETURNING MONDAY??? @squidhomin.id · 29/01/2026

I'd have to look, but since the Switch, Nintendo games have all been multilingual-on-cartridge, Animal Crossing ACTIVELY was a collaboration between NoA and NCL ever since GameCube, and...really, Japanese is structurally ambiguous in a way that makes this a weird question. I'll check later today.

100

Roxy | STREAMS RETURNING MONDAY??? @squidhomin.id · 29/01/2026

if you...actually talk to nonbinary people, a lot of us...DON'T like the 'nonbinary-as-a-third-category' thing. it's rarely that simple. it's taking the entire spectrum and putting it in a box that refuses that 'boy' and 'girl' are just two things. no fight here, just different ways of thinking.

000

Roxy | STREAMS RETURNING MONDAY??? @squidhomin.id · 29/01/2026

I'm from the era of Tumblr MOGAI shit, I actively use the terms 'transfemme nonbinary' and 'robot-gender', I brought in a HTC Vive and set up Lighthouses on photo stands to do a VR porn demo for my psych of human sexual behavior class. Everything is fake lmao just have fun and be who you want to be

000

Roxy | STREAMS RETURNING MONDAY??? @squidhomin.id · 29/01/2026

Basically, I got dogpiled by you two because... I don't know, I guess you expected an argument. I'm done. This is stupid.

010

Roxy | STREAMS RETURNING MONDAY??? @squidhomin.id · 29/01/2026

'Conveyed it better'? My initial message was "...Girl they've BEEN doing it. ACNH and Splatoon 3 already made this change. I'm not surprised it finally made its way to Tomodachi Life." That's not swearing, or calling anyone anything, it's just...saying the thing. Passively. How I normally talk.

110

Roxy | STREAMS RETURNING MONDAY??? @squidhomin.id · 29/01/2026

You replied to yourself to bury my reply. bsky.app/profile/squi... This is hostile. I'm done talking.

120

Roxy | STREAMS RETURNING MONDAY??? @squidhomin.id · 29/01/2026

That's...not what I said. I'm saying they've been making incremental progress towards this for a long time, so to say that's not what's been going on is disingenuous. Their initial post seemed unnecessarily hostile, and I approached it from the angle of...this is social media. It's a conversation.

110

Roxy | STREAMS RETURNING MONDAY??? @squidhomin.id · 29/01/2026

I was replying to a post I saw on my timeline that said "no company has an excuse to not make nonbinary an option in their gender select if fucking Nintendo can do it" Past a point, you post things because you want conversation. Clearly, you don't want to be having *this* conversation.

010

Roxy | STREAMS RETURNING MONDAY??? @squidhomin.id · 29/01/2026

...I'm not being confrontational. I thought YOU were being confrontational. This is, like, the entire problem with internet discourse. This is why I keep failing to get through to people. Everyone seems primed to make hostile reads. I think social media is just...doing bad shit to people's brains.

120

Roxy | STREAMS RETURNING MONDAY??? @squidhomin.id · 29/01/2026

I didn't say that. I said it's moving goalposts for the community to keep redefining Nintendo doing the actually normal thing of incremental progress that keeps being seen as good and positive as 'they FINALLY fixed the thing they kept fucking up'. This keeps happening with Nintendo. Not just LGBT.

130

Roxy | STREAMS RETURNING MONDAY??? @squidhomin.id · 29/01/2026

Like, past a point that is literally moving goalposts.

130

Roxy | STREAMS RETURNING MONDAY??? @squidhomin.id · 29/01/2026

...No? Animal Crossing and Splatoon are both by EPD 5. When those games came out the community was literally screaming about Nintendo 'abolishing gender' and 'style' being seen as them finally recognizing that biology and presentation aren't the same thing.
