so i'm not constantly talking about music. a poem i wrote in the midst of a now-ending depressive episode. i do actually try and write semi-regularly but i've lost the love for prose. so i write labubu poetry instead

a poem entitled stories and words (shamefully stolen from the dream syndicate's that's what you always say) that reads:

you have wasted the whole evening thinking.
thinking up a novel without writing it.
you saw the sentences about your break-up,
your boyfriend's cutting comments in your mind.
you rattled through your resentments,
of the beautiful woman you'd hesitate to define,
but whose midriff exposed stands as the acme
of sexuality, of the male gaze, of whatever.
you thought of your failure to get funding,
the inadequacy stemming from your father,
you even voiced the earth-shattering orgasm,
not after sex, but after making your boyfriend cry.
you could have written these words down,
letting them step foot onto the platform.
instead you carted them off and let them go on,
trundling towards the terminus.
where you decided to instead avoid this,
and do something you have already done.
tomorrow morning, you will regret this inaction.
you may even bring the razor to your arm.
you will then bring it to your face and feel shame.

the joke is that dromio answers antipholus’ question if you only interpret converse as meaning to speak with, but it doesn't answer the main question antipholus is asking, which is “did you have sex with this woman?” the best analogue i can think of is if antipholus went “did you fuck this woman” and dromio went “i've never wronged her in my life”, but that's very different and way clunkier (fuck vs fuck over). welcome to suggestions but shakespeare. funny guy!
