They had to reopen applications for Guelph’s Accessibility Advisory Committee. Only one of the previous members reapplied, the rest of us quit, and the city obviously didn’t get enough new applicants. It’s almost like if you ignore and lie to disabled people enough, we stop wanting to engage. 🤷🏼‍♀️
Screenshot from the city of Guelph boards and committees website showing 11 vacancies on the Accessibility Advisory Committee, with a term that is supposed to start on May 27, 2025. The advisory committee only has 11 members.

A circular diagram titled “The Inaccessibility Cycle” shows a cycle of systemic exclusion faced by disabled people. At the top, the cycle starts with “Inaccessibility”, leading to “Disabled people unable to participate”, then to “Disabled people not visible in public”. Next, it states “Disabled people seen as outlier/rarity”, followed by “‘So there’s little/no need to consider them’”, which loops back to “Inaccessibility.” In the background, there is a faint wheelchair symbol.

Last night I went downtown to honour the lives we’ve lost to drug poisonings and the people who’ve been abandoned by yesterday’s closure of the Consumption and Treatment Services site. Sincerest Thanks to the staff who kept this site running, preventing countless drug poisoning deaths & overdoses. ❤️‍🩹

What stage of grief is it when you give yourself side bangs with a kitchen knife at 4am on the day of your friend’s funeral and then clean them up with scissors in a hotel bathroom a couple of days later? Asking for a friend.

You’re free to still message me I just probably won’t respond right now.
Dealing with a few really horrific things all at once right now and I am really not doing well, so I'm stepping away from my phone and social media.
Maybe just for today, maybe longer. If you message me and I don't respond it isn't personal.

This is pretty cool, some folks at the University of Guelph asked me to write their post for International Disability Day (also known as “International Day for Persons with Disabilities”, but if you read the article you’ll find out why a lot of us don’t like to call it that). Link: bit.ly/3ZwIwAh

It’s all fun and games until Princess Jasmine threatens a 25% tariff.
Screenshot of a tweet replying to a tweet sent by Kim Guthrie. Cam’s tweet says “congratulations to President elect Donald Trump. hoping for a positive and mutually beneficial relationship for our countries. From a Guelph perspective, with many local manufacturers and…“ the tweet is cut off at that point due to length.
A retweet from Lorelei reads “when I was a small child, my favourite Disney movie was Aladdin. I used to think maybe princess Jasmine could hear me talking to her through the TV and that one day we would be best friends and I could meet her pet tiger. This tweet has that vibe.”

Too many goodbyes for any two week period. Rest peacefully Miles, Jen, Brody, Chris, and Frankie. You deserved better than the world you were given.

Another one of my rats died last night, this is crushing. I am not doing well. He was one of my best friends. I’ve had him for almost 3 years. I don’t know how I’m supposed to deal with losing two pets less than a month apart. Rest peacefully, Edmund. I’ll never stop missing you.

Doing one last push for donations because this cause means so much to me and this ends next week. Any help to reach my $5k goal is appreciated. Tax receipts provided! msspwalk.donordrive.com/participant/...

Number 1 on the list of unintentionally ableist things I hope people stop doing forever: calling people like me “differently abled”. Here comes a BIG old thread about why I hate it so much...
