a question haunts me, relevant to justification of lethal force: Did Corey Durell Ruiz wield the knife which injured an officer? Or was an officer wounded by an unsecured knife in a scuffle with Corey Ruiz and multiple other officers? www.cityofmadison.com/police/incid...

The man either fell or was pulled off the bicycle, this is still being determined, and a struggle ensued with officers in the middle of the intersection.

During the struggle, the man pulled out a fix-blade knife and injured an officer.

Officers continued to try to get the man into custody and a less lethal device, a taser, was used but it was unsuccessful.

The officer injured by the knife is the one who fired his weapon. A second officer was also injured, but it is not clear how that occurred. At this time, we do not think it was from the knife.

In all, four officers were involved or witnessed this shooting. Only one officer fired his weapon.

It was useful in older kernels for tuning metadata writeback frequency, especially on systems with specific performance or durability requirements.
Deprecation Reason
The XFS developers reworked the metadata writeback mechanism, making xfssyncd obsolete.
Modern XFS now uses the generic Linux kernel writeback infrastructure, which is more efficient and unified across filesystems.

Timeline
Marked deprecated: Around Linux kernel 5.10–5.15 timeframe.
Removed entirely: By Linux kernel 6.2+ (and in RHEL 8.7+ / RHEL 9.x, Ubuntu 22.04+ with newer kernels).

I'm working with backups and restores of Intersystems IRIS databases on Linux cloud VMs :-) and i have reason to care about xfssyncd_centisecs. xfssyncd_centisecs is deprecated? Nah, i think google AI is lying to me. But DuckDuckGo is telling me the truth: not deprecated.

fs.xfs.xfssyncd_centisecs (Deprecation Note): While still documented, the kernel frequently ignores this variable in modern implementations. In newer systems, modifying it has little to no effect, as the kernel favors demand-based flushing.
