Emil's someone who sincerely wants a permanent monogamous relationship. Spamton's someone who wants something similar but has the added duality of shame over how he looks and how he's been treated, thus causing avoidance in seeking such attachments or even casual relations.

There's something socially taboo and foreign today in many male-oriented circles concerning such restraint. It's often seen as self-abuse or lacking freedom of choice and not for what it truly is: one's moral compass / values. This was inspired by conversations I've had with similar men.

When writing Voicemail ( still working on it ), I debated whether or not Spamton and Emil ( Blue addison ) would explore their sexuality in male-typical ways ( i.e., porn / promiscuity ). Having known men (both straight and gay) who abstained from both, I went with that instead.

When the "there's too much sex in this adult film" crowd crow I remember they're likely gen-z. They don't realize prior generations truly did grow up with gratuitous sex in shows and film. If anything, directors are becoming competent at showing sex to tell stories and reveal character details.
