If owners somehow stay, there is bound to be questions about how legitimate any of the current deals are. And demand for multiyear sporting punishments which many seem to suggest, which would imo just look silly and be bad for the competition City happen to be in

Also in terms of punishment a lot would surely get solved if the owners change. AD related sponsors presumably go, if relegated team has to sell a lot of the high earners. Club is "throttled" by having to rebuild the commercial side completely. Not sure further punishment would be needed per se

But these sorts of numbers does bring the obvious question that if the ownership is allowed to stay, is there not going to be a lot of demand to go through the current AD related deals? And there might still be something similar going on

The numbers are strange in that regard. But I guess the cynical view is that because of the scheme they didn't really care to adjust whose accounts it was coming from and it was just about what money was coming to City overall

Like in midfield and on the wings there is clear potential for some to be completely on the outs. Ait Nouri an obvious candidate as well.

Do you think there is a Chelsea style issue where there are various players of similar status, if not age, for different positions and many of them are bound to be not happy about not being 1st choice? Maybe it will be a non-issue if there are certain injuries, but could see it being a problem

Kaiken huipuksi Aaltolan koko teksti näytti tekoälyllä generoidulta. Kielimallien suosima "ei X, vaan Y" rakenne toistui kerta toisensa jälkeen. Pangrammin luokittelija oli samaa mieltä

Given this view, how many titles would you predict City win over let's say the next 5 seasons?

And the wage bill will naturally end up rising as they now have a strong team, and will presumably continue to get good UCL and PL money and growing their revenues. Even with the exact same quality on the pitch I would assume their wage bill will be larger in a few years

All credit to them for building a strong team, but a lot of the "team with lower wage bill" issues which teams lower down the table have don't really apply to them Like there is no world in which their rivals can buy Arsenal's best players because they can't pay enough

Would have been quite hilarious if the last second winner had come from Savinho's heroics. Looking at the cross again there might have been a ball on to Foden sprinting at the back post. But hard to complain, Bournemouth were great

What do you make of the reasons for the Nico G situation? Was checking City's record with him playing this season and it's not bad at all. Started wondering if Pep is harsher on people in that position because of his own history there

spudde.net @spudde.net · 21/04/2026
How do you think Pep would have used him had he joined City from WH?

If Rodri leaves do you think it's realistic to buy a guy to start over Nico, who has then had 18 months under Pep? I guess if Pep also goes it's a different story, but I find it a bit hard to believe anyone would from the start do what Pep wants in that position better

I think this is all downstream of technology, like many other things. In the past viewers and players alike didn't have the means to properly follow football outside their countries. Now everyone league is in competition with each other. Clubs had a harder time scouting for players abroad, etc

What do you think about the Marmoush pick in some of these games (together with Semenyo and Haaland)? O'Reilly makes a decent amount of sense, especially with Ait Nouri also doing well at LB. And when Doku is available do you think he is likely to play instead of Marmoush in this sort of lineup?

Without the injury I think he had a good chance to take the starting spot last season

Really don't get the combination of Trafford and him. Surely one of them will be leaving again next summer or the season after? Neither wants to be the cup keeper and both young enough that just waiting isn't going to be viable. From this pov I don't get why Mamardashvili went to Liverpool either

Trafford is making a pretty positive impression. Seems pretty confident in his actions

Would be a shame for Trafford. Seemed great to have Ederson there for one more year with the plan to have Trafford as the number one afterwards. If Donnarumma comes in it seems inevitable either him or Trafford will be again out the door in a year or two

Was about to reply that obviously everyone expected Lewis scoring from the edge of the box right after seeing the lineup

The incentives are probably not quite as bad, not nearly as money to be made. But on the listener side everyone can listen to all the same English language stuff, and some of the same talking points get brought back as if similarly relevant in a different country

Great video! Would be interesting to know how the situation compares in different countries. I'm Finnish, and the main podcasts I've listened to with long form interviews with political figures/topics are not all that bad in my experience. The hosts seem to take their responsibility more seriously

Good video! How do you reconcile all the talk about football being much more careful in many ways with the fact that there are lots of goals scored compared to many seasons in the 2000s? Is it just about how the game feels outside of actual chance creation?

Where do you think the attitude towards Zelensky comes from? I'm Finnish, but could understand some sort of "not our war" type thinking from across the ocean or even western Europe. But making fun of Zelensky or the Ukrainians is just vile

Be careful or you will give them new ideas. Once they get their "agents" working, soon they will be compiling lists of interesting retired people in all walks of life and calling them automatically, transcribing the calls and including them in the training set. Something to do for the retirees!

I think the front 4 will be same as vs Newcastle. Doku & KDB great options from the bench. Bernardo probably will replace Gundogan. Defense of course depends on Dias & Ake fitness, but I wouldn't start Ake if he can't play the full 90. Guessing Gvardiol, Dias, Khusanov and Stones stepping up from RB

Obviously his English is fine, but also obvious that he isn't a native speaker. Wonder if the language can make difference in how precisely he can help the player. And with Nico there also is the shared Barcelona context as well

Looked great from the 1st minute, was taking his time and passed to Foden betwene the lines. On a side note, do you think Pep benefits from his 6 being Spanish? Was thinking that given that it's the position Pep can individually contribute to most, being able to talk in Spanish have some merit

Didn't realize these were the stats but it's quite incredible. 7-0-0 without Walker starting, 1-3-4 with him in. He did play in a bunch of the more difficult games, and obviously a bunch of other factors. But still pretty stunning

Nunes had to withdraw from the Portugal squad, was he fit to play? I think he's done well on the wing so not bringing him on was a bit strange if he was fit. Prob should be given a go in the middle
