Honestly, I’m sick of googling words & phrases in academic writing. There is something so alienating about academia as a first generation PhD-er (actually any degree-er). This is not the language of my youth or my everyday. If your work makes people have to hit Google every third word, do better!

It's painfully ironic that the amount of clerical bullshit you have to go through to get ADHD meds is the exact kind of clerical bullshit that most ADHD folk struggle with. It's equivalent to, 'Ouch, broken leg? Don't worry! We've got some crutches for you at the end of this marathon.'

I’m doing some writing today on the racist roots of diet culture & honestly, if you’ve got anything to do with promoting diet culture yourself, you need to be thinking about this stuff and examining the history closely.

I’ve been reading about the history of Evangelicalism. I’m finding it fascinating, especially the absolute assurance that can be found in some streams of evangelicalism today given how they got there & how relatively new some of the ‘fundamental’ beliefs are.

Doing some PhD reading and I’m suddenly reminded of a tutorial at evangelical Bible College. I told my tutor my Dad had been diagnosed with cancer. Clearly with a different agenda he told me bad things happen and asked me if I comfort ate… just one of many bonkers encounters over those 3 yrs.

When someone attempts to exert power wrongly I get a sicky feeling in my stomach, it’s a left over from spiritual abuse which isn’t entirely unhelpful. It’s rather like a bullshit alarm in my gut. An email I received today set it off instantly.
