RAPTURE

Description: Someone reminded me that it’s important to explain your art recently so I’m gonna do my best to give all the different backgrounds to this one.

Firstly and foremostly: It’s vorey pornography. I want you to jerk off. I want you to imagine yourself in the scene. You have the visuals already but try to picture what you would hear too, what you would feel, what you would taste (like?). Are you the snake packing your guts with delicious person meat, or are you a delicious person drowning in sloshing, churning flesh and rubber?

Secondly: It’s spite-based. I got inspiration for this from seeing a piece of art of a furry church a few months ago that had one-hundred-thousand up-grams on Instagram the everything app. The prevailing attitude in the comments was “finally furry art that HONOURS THE LORD instead of appealing to DEGENERATE FA**OTS” and those comments pissed me off, so making this painting was cathartic.

Thirdly: It’s about religion and AI. Out of morbid curiosity I listened to some crypto-bro / tech-pastor’s podcast a while back about “how to use ChatGPT to enhance your ministry”. It was an endarkening podcast to listen to. I’d also been researching Christian rapture theology and how many evangelicals are going about eagerly anticipating that their lives will be ended any moment.

It made a lot of sense to me then that they would embrace ChatGPT and the like, anything to remove their humanity from the equation, anything to minimise how much they have to exist at all. They are enthusiastic about not being, hungry for the day God bites down.

So here the mechanical serpent comes to them with a seductive offer: “Good Christians, here I am! Come to me and I’ll end you; Negated. Unmade. Raptured to my side. Forever at my flank.”

Tempting.

Quick and dirty comic of Tasma, witchy highland cow, giving me a mysterious tea/potion. I slurp it up and it turns me into a cushion! My eyes are golden buttons and my stinkhorn eggs into tassels that line the sides. It’s a bit of a shock, but I’ll come around to being a comfortable seat.
