In case you haven't heard -- I've a new EP out.

A trick I use is to move the snare or hi-hat slightly ahead on the grid. Makes it less sterile sounding,

Check out Spoon Hammer's contribution to the Bitume 10th anniversary CD. I think it came out really good -- got to add some proggy touches (mellotron makes everything sound better). www.youtube.com/watch

Just realized that these probably date me somewhat.

Watched an Eno documentary and now I want to try and make some ambient music, since my prog ideas are not going anywhere at the moment.

Pre-Portishead Geoff Barrow is on this album, and much of the follow-up, if I'm not mistaken.

Check it out. I kinda forgot that I submitted for this mix-tape and was very pleasantly surprised to see this.

I tried writing a positive, uplifting song once, and it was the hardest thing ever for me to write. And I still don't like it.

Spoon Hammer @spoonhammer.bsky.social · 18/02/2026

Ha ha ha! No. But I did have to tune my mellotron parts in a song because the original sample was a 1/4 flat and it was driving me nuts.

I'm biased, but this is my favourite indie band.

Spoon Hammer has released a re-mixed version of the 'Songs You Can Live Without' album on Bandcamp. The new mix cleans up the sound and is a lot more punchier with more depth. It's awesome-sauce now and you should check it out. spoonhammer.bandcamp.com/album/songs-...

Happy B-day, Adrienne. This one is about you.

It's progress, for sure. Just a whole lot of a new skill set to get better at.

Spoon Hammer @spoonhammer.bsky.social · 27/09/2025

I've spent more time mixing this song than I did playing/singing/recording/editing/fixing the damn thing. But I did learn a whole bunch of new mixing techniques, so it's all good.

Done! Of course the first album I listen to is an acoustic one! 😆 This is very good; stylistically I'd say it's a kind of gothic Folk. Lyrics would work in Black or DoomMetal as well. Very mellow and relaxed atmosphere. Highly, highly recommended! Good job @spoonhammer.bsky.social! 👍

Thanks for the kind words. The industiral and alt-metal tags are from my previous album from 2 years ago, but I can't figure out how to change that. Gothic folk -- I like that. Probably from my Opeth and Chelsea Wolfe listening over the years.

I suck. Didn't notice the typo on the date which should be 'Friday, August 29th', which would be obvious to anyone with a calendar.

Spoon Hammer is going to be on the Indie Juke Box on Radio Wigwam this week (Monday on this side of the Atlantic; Tuesday on the other side). radiowigwam.co.uk/listen-live/ You can preview the 'single' "Blue Sky", which has nothing to do with this site.

This Friday, August 25th will see the release of 'Than To Curse the Darkness' by Spoon Hammer on Bandcamp and streaming. The material aims to shine a light in these times of darkness. Aww, who am I kidding? Most of the songs are pretty dour, just like I meant them to be. Please enjoy my misery.

010

Spoon Hammer @spoonhammer.bsky.social · 16/08/2025

In two weeks, Spoon Hammer's 'Than To Curse the Darkness' will be released. A collection of 11 'acoustic' based songs, which is the polar opposite of the the first Spoon Hammer album from 2023 which was mostly industrial/metal/noise.

An all black picture with a faint glow of light from behind an object, matching the theme of the album title.

030

Spoon Hammer @spoonhammer.bsky.social · 20/07/2025

Looks like my 'acoustic' album will be out end of August. Tracks are completed and I have cover artwork. I'd slip it out before then, but I have a vacation coming.

010

Spoon Hammer @spoonhammer.bsky.social · 08/07/2025

Soundcloud was useful at the start of social media, but now there's Bandcamp and it's possible to get music on streaming sites.

But I don't know the person you love.

110

Spoon Hammer @spoonhammer.bsky.social · 01/07/2025

Well, I think I'm about ready to put a wrap on the 'acoustic' EP that I've been working on since September. 11 songs completed, so it's no longer an EP 🤣. Just need to add bass to one track and then I can look at releasing it soon.

Spoon Hammer @spoonhammer.bsky.social · 28/06/2025

If only there was someone that enjoyed doing these things for free. We could be best friends.

Spoon Hammer @spoonhammer.bsky.social · 28/06/2025

It seems that about 70% of my recording time is spent cleaning up tracks, fixing timing and comping.

On the demo of Puppets, they go back to the intro riff at the end, but it sounds lame so they did the right thing.
