Macross: Do You Remember Love? A love that only wants you, as you were. A song that immortalizes the way I felt looking into your eyes, a memory that endures and burns, reigniting the passion of those who forgot what love could feel like. An ordinary love song, as I remembered you.

The Age of AI, our continued Slop Era, is defined by genre-as-prediction -- if we recognize something, and it has really clear conceptual boundaries, it is easily absorbed by a statistical machine. The task of art going forward is to abandon this.

The Dark History as a concept was inspired by recorded history—to understand the realities of a never-ending cycle. That societies will change and alter events to suit their needs. That truths will often be lost in time, only to be later revealed as a black box of surprises.

Actually yeah talk to me Macross heads, what is it about the series that you really dig thematically? Like talk it up what do you love about what Macross has to say. For me the intertwining relationship between the culture and machinery of humanity has always been at the forefront.

There's something so chilling about Macross city at this point. APC's and Valkyries stationed throughout the streets, propaganda lies spread over the radio that downplay the losses of recent battles, and the city, the people adhere to this culture, this city they've built from ashes.

Another critical piece of why Macross works is that Roy Focker and Hikaru's dynamic is just as sincere as the love story. Focker's a fucker but he cares so hard. Really does.

Nothing doing it like Macross' visuals seriously

My thesis to Hikaru's character is that Episode 4 is a centralizing, emotionally disruptive incident. It's not an excuse for how he acts throughout the series, for no character is 'excused' from their behaviour in Macross. Yet it helps contextualize him in a way that explains his erratic behaviour.

Sunrise is animating the next Macross. Khara is creating the next Gundam. To complete the circle, Satelite has to make a new Evangelion.

The major part of what makes Macross work is that the main dynamic between Hikaru and Minmay is legitimately sweet and compelling. Just young kids who don't yet know who they are, found by each other.

What makes Captain Global so compelling is that he is just a sober man in a hungover world

New Gundam TV series with a Kamen Rider-ass sounding name, Gundam GQuuuuuuX (pronounced like G-Quarks)! Sunrise x Studio Khara, dir. Kazuya Tsuramaki, co-written by Hideaki Anno and Yoji Enokido, mecha design by Ikuto Yamashita. Looks like a wild one!

This website is depressing but like in a less substantial way than the previous one. Maybe it's more like social media in general now feels so exhausting
