I can think of better reasons for reliqious study This just isn't on the listI'm aware of humanities fiscal issues...
If he was making that argument I think its fair to say it requires some editorializing to get there Because it doesn't exist in the text.

Fun fact: On a passport the US Govt asserts unequivocally, that while traveling abroad, US citizens are "subjects" to their laws. So the next time someone says immigrants aren't "subjects of/to US law," ask them why the US explicitly states otherwise, when advising on foreign travel.

That whole final third of the article is terrobly dispiriting... And you have to wonder how the Kurds could ever trust us, especially this administration, given Trump's track record, including this⬇️most recent calamity.
However, earlier this year the new, US-aligned Syrian government launched a swift military campaign to take control of the country’s north that included attacks against ISIS and pushing out Kurdish Syrian Democratic Forces. Facing that campaign, Kurdish forces evacuated and stopped guarding the ISIS prisons when US forces pulled out of the country. In January, the US’ Special Envoy for Syria Tom Barrack said that the purpose of the US’ alliance with the SDF had “largely expired.”

What a great little loophole these "activist judges" gave themselves. Complete & totally control of completely ambiguous law!
T'he reason Republicans on the court spent so much time yelling at one another over this doctrine that didn't actually decide the case is because the major questions doctrine has a critical flaw: Iit's entirely made-up. It's not written down anywhere-not in the Constitution, not in the Declaration of Independence, not in the Magna Carta. not in the Bible or the Mahabharata. It's just not a historical thing. Nobody currently on the court learned about maior questions doctrine in law school because it hadn't been invented back when they were in law school. Conservative law professors essentially concocted this "doctrine' circa 2014 (they say necessity is the mother of all invention. and the existence of a Black president certainly seemed to necessitate the invention of ways of curtail Barack Obama's powers) as they were trying to find some way to limit the effectiveness of...You can see why this doctrine is 1seful to a power-hungry Supreme Court iustice. At its core, it allows the unelected members of the court to overrule the policies of an elected president because it deems those policies important. 'That's a wild, unrestrained power. Imagine going through the trouble of winning an entire presidential election only to be told by the court that you can`t enact your policies because they are 'politically significant.' The major questions doctrine places the Supreme Court first among allegedly equal branches of government
All of the Republicans on the high court now agree that their imaginary power is real, but, luckily for those of us who would like to vote for our leaders. that's all the Republicans can agree on when it comes to this doctrine. They don't agree on where, legally speaking, the

Already, by 2016, trump had the approval of 95% of the force... The insidiousness of this is difficult to articulate.
In terms of partisan affiliations. Trump has cultivated immigratior security forces as political allies an effort that appears to have been successful. In 2016, the union that represents ICE officers endorsed Trump's campaign with support from more than 95% of its voting members. Today, ICE recruitment efforts increasingly rely_on far- right messaging to appeal to political supporters
Both ICE and CBP have been deployed against political opponents in nonimmigration contexts, including Black Lives Matter protests in Washington D.C., and Portland,_Oregon, in 2020. They have also gathered data, according to political scientist Elizabeth F. Cohen, toscientist Elizabeth F. Cohen, to "surveil citizens' political beliefs and activities - including protest actions they have taken on issues as far afield as gun control - in addition to immigrants' rights."
In these ways, ICE and CBP do bear some resemblance to the informal paramilitaries used in many countries to carry out political repression along partisan and ethnic lines, even though they are official agents of the state.
Why this matters
An extensive body of research shows that more militarized forms of policing are associated with higher rates of police violence and rights violations, without reducing crime or improving officer safety.militarized police forces are harder to reform than less- militarized law enforcement agencies. The use of such forces can also create tensions with both the regular military and civilian police, as currently appears to be happening with ICE in Minneapolis.
The ways in which federal immigration forces in the United States resemble informal paramilitaries in other countries - operating with less effective oversight, less competent recruits and increasingly entrenched partisan identity - make all these issues more intractable. Which is why, I believe, many commentators have surfaced the
term paramilitary
and are
using it
as a warning

both the Trump and Biden administrations to inject trillions into the economy, primarily in the form of grants or forgivable loans.
Return on investment
However, Trump and Biden's intervention during the pandemic differed greatly n their impact.
For example, both presidents took minor equity stakes in their emergency relief programs to airlines, but they pale in comparison to the total package cost. In fact, President Trump, the self-proclaimed "great dea| maker" gave away six times as much as the TARP program under President George H. W. Bush, and 10 times more than President Biden's $50 billion CHIPS Act, through his more than trillion in pandemic relief funds.
President Biden's CHIPS Act, which passed on a narrow but bipartisan vote, injected more than $50 billion to boost domestic research and manufacturing of semiconductors. The program catalyzed over $500 billion in private sector commitments, promising a more than 10xLike potting weakened prey, Trump ounced to re-trade the deal with Intel. While Intel was in a challenging strategic and financialposition, it had not reached a point o crisis, nor was it near one The semiconductor industry is essential to U.S. national security. However, private investors were ti, willing to brovide capital to Intel. Domestic competitors were interested in acquiring the floundering manufacturing unit.
NoW, xhe government stake in Intel threatens to place other potential American competitors, such as Broadcom, AMD, and Qualcomm, at a disadvantage should their interests come into conflict.
Future fears
Such crony-like capitalism has also made CEOs from other industries wary. The pharmaceutical industry receives tens of billions of dollars year federal funding for critical research and development, as do the defense and space exploration industries. Does the government then deserve equity stakes in companies like Pfizer, Lockheed Martin, or Spacex?
