Topped with pressure of seeing students in my 2d studio art class do an ungodly onslaught of crafts out of an implied pre establishment of their cognitive skill while Im doing stiff sketches Why is it that I now DREAD going to ART class or DRAWING unlike doing math?

I swear bro, it's like my brain just cannot even conceive a pathway to activate the neurons of my entire fronal cortex to produce anything creative, productive, nuanced or communicative, or do anything flexibly and focused

Bought the Kentaro Yabuki edition female mannequin after growing to hate the standard one. I'm already loving it for literally just doing it's job and then some at being flexible #art #mannequin #bodychan #shfigurarts #KentaroYabuki

No patterns or backdrops or abstract things to really make a feeling of a trip. Perhaps I'll grow out of this perspective in time once my mind mellows.

000

SpinyLine @spinyline.bsky.social · 27/08/2026

I'm ashamed that this looks very lack luster compared to everyone else. The substance does its job at being an illusion and instilling a sence of perspective and distortion, but the style of just lines with little shading, amounting to lifeless looking shapes and no meat to it.

100

SpinyLine @spinyline.bsky.social · 27/08/2026

Shapes are not my thing and it's why I wasn't all that excited to do this. Much less as a start to my 2D studio art journey. But like every other piece I've made, and much to every artist's pleasure, once I got a clear fundimental layed out, it was smooth sailing.

SpinyLine @spinyline.bsky.social · 27/08/2026

For the first project, I created an optical illusion. The circle focus is inspired by Cloud Strife's arm guards and the biological cell-like feeling i get from hearing the song Mystique from SMT Nocturne. #art #traditionalart #perspective #illusionart #studioart

Among many other things here, I hope I made a cute, cozy atmosphere to feel whenever you look at this. As a bro, I used a lot of love and care into making this present, the symbol of what his relationship with his gf means. Let the both of you cherish it💘

010

SpinyLine @spinyline.bsky.social · 11/08/2026

Same with his gf's cardigan. And since it has a knit texture, I applied a pressure line dense tone asset, and also lightened it to stay consistent with the lighting from the sun.

110

SpinyLine @spinyline.bsky.social · 11/08/2026

There were a few small textures applied here that you'll need a keen eye for, like the shading style for their clothing. You’re gonna see it in my timelapse video! This time, I used the Japanese brush instead of an air brush to accurately match the fabric of his jacket irl.

110

SpinyLine @spinyline.bsky.social · 11/08/2026

I tried my best and implemented many thoughtful elements to make this present as charming and attractive as their vibe accordingly. Such as the warmth of the colors, his gf's mystifying hair texture and a cute visual metaphor of them being connected by their glasses.

As you delve into the minds of different people's ideas and implementing them into your own art, your mind gets an expanded scope in which you construct your craft. So when you do get to do art for yourself, you form new creative ideas. The people around you are parts of your art

000

SpinyLine @spinyline.bsky.social · 08/08/2026

This one in particular is more like I expanded my painting ability, as seen by the clouds, the majority and backbone of this piece that took shape just by freehanding a Japanese waterbrush I got from CSP Assets, as I decided the base brushes I have didn't fit my vision.

100

SpinyLine @spinyline.bsky.social · 08/08/2026

I'd like to thank all of my clients from over the months. Commissions do more for you than you realize. It's not just about the money and serving the customer, you're reaping the reward of learning about art. New techniques, assets, and ideas outside your field to take with you.

100

SpinyLine @spinyline.bsky.social · 08/08/2026

The PKMN and sun were laid out uninterestingly though. The idea was to have Flabébé as the focal point, closest to the camera to create a perspective, but I was too proud of how I painted the clouds. I have a bad habit of compromising to make sure every bit of hard work is seen and appreciated.

000

SpinyLine @spinyline.bsky.social · 08/08/2026

This painting was inspired by Tetsuya Nomura's "Twilight," the alternate cover art for Dream Drop Distance. And I mean it, because my client's description of her vision gave me the idea to utilize watercolors and light pressure to create the effect of a hazy dream.

Im touched🥲 thank you once again man. Thats really sweet. Now my stance on this piece and dare I say, my art in general as of late, has swiftly changed from it being negative, to hopeful. Hey, stay tuned for when I post my timelapse video on YouTube tomorrow. Showcasing my full process👀

SpinyLine @spinyline.bsky.social · 07/06/2026

Thanks a bunch mate. The more I look back on it, the more proud i am of the long, arduous work I did to see it turn out like this. Im so glad you GENUINELY see the good in this drawing. I can sometimes be skeptical when my art gets praised, but i feel like this comment let me know that I did good

110

SpinyLine @spinyline.bsky.social · 06/06/2026

I added some clouds, changed the sky color and then added filters to the canvas and changed the sky color to make it more attractive and warm as I envisioned. And how tonally fitting too, for it to be released the month of the series' 24th anniversary. Happy birthday Shantae!🎉🎉🎉

SpinyLine @spinyline.bsky.social · 06/06/2026

If you start seeing pixels, you're stressing unnecessarily on a spec of a grand picture. (despite how tiny things sometimes CAN make art shine) As if your psyche is poisoned by perfectionism. Minor errors should show personality in your art. And that's what makes it beautiful

110

SpinyLine @spinyline.bsky.social · 06/06/2026

After 2 weeks of resting from this month long ordeal, I hopped back in, peeped at the rocks and yet, My frustration fled. It doesn't look all that bad anymore. And it's good that no clinically dysfunctional person is gonna zoom into every pixel to find something to be mad about.

110

SpinyLine @spinyline.bsky.social · 06/06/2026

This is the first drawing in my spiny style where the linework is entirely molded from sketches on one layer, with me cleaning it all up like I'm mowing a lawn. And I know i improved on backgrounds and it's still BOUND to be icky, but I'm certainly NOT specialized in it.

110

SpinyLine @spinyline.bsky.social · 06/06/2026

If it wasn't for the steady decline of motivation and my overwhelmed spirit leaving me completely staggered, I would've been done with this a long time ago. But by God, this earns 2nd place in the race themed commission... race. Next to Rainbow Road. Although I still struggled.

Commission from @elburg03.bsky.social to draw Shantae drifting through the danger. I banged my fist against a wall and I had a contusion around my ulna bone for about a week now. Now I look like Riku in KH2. I've been analyzing other artists and techniques since then. Though my ass wouldn't be finishing projects in a faster pace anyway, I should be back to normal by maybe 3 days.

020

SpinyLine @spinyline.bsky.social · 22/05/2026

Im drip feeding again. In the process of emulating the background art style for ½ Genie. I rarely do backgrounds so im kinda scared for how it'll turn out As a side note, it's stressing that I take so long on art and procrastinate, but I've gotta stop sitting in the dirt and move

051

SpinyLine @spinyline.bsky.social · 06/05/2026

Hey @bsky.app do something about these excessively unnecessarily long tags... like take them off. Takes up a load of space on captions if im tagging someone. Take them off.
