Sam @spinachwrap.bsky.social · 15/09/2025@ksonney.redwombat.social.ap.brid.gy Hi! Somehow I thought that the "rent a chick" 2 week visit would be temporary and here we are, 2 days later, researching coops. IF you have time, can you recommend a decent starter chicken coop? We're in SC, so heat is more of a concern than killing winters. 000
Sam @spinachwrap.bsky.social · 27/08/2025I saw a mantis this morning and thought you might like to see her(?) too :) SC, seen on my car, relocated to the shrubbery using a bit of plastic. 220
Sam @spinachwrap.bsky.social · 06/08/2025Hair WILL still escape, but less so than other braids, and it doesn't hurt the base of my skull from laying on a tight ponytail. 000
Sam @spinachwrap.bsky.social · 06/08/2025Words are hard so I did a speedy video of this twisty braid thing I've done when hospitalized. It keeps my hair from getting tangled in the back better than a French braid, and doesn't have the hard knot of a hair tie at the base of my skull. 210
Sam @spinachwrap.bsky.social · 26/07/2025So far I've had great results with prairie moon nursery's single species trays. Completely different goal than yours (I'm trying to make a pollinator garden out of a clay lawn), but looks like they have your species of interest? 110
Sam @spinachwrap.bsky.social · 05/05/2025Anybody know what this plant is? Growing in full shade in South Carolina. These are a couple feet tall but there are some shoulder height. Dunno how big they get or if they flower because we've only lived here a few months. Deciding whether to remove all of them or just the ones in bad spots. 030
Sam @spinachwrap.bsky.social · 02/05/2025My phone refuses to acknowledge that birds exist but I'm VERY excited about the little guys visiting the window feeders so let's look at them together :D (If you're worried about window strikes, me too! I keep the blinds lowered so there's a visual obstacle between birds and a concussion.) 000
Sam @spinachwrap.bsky.social · 09/04/2025The chipping sparrows are all competing to become The Roundest Bird. Cute little boogers. 030
Sam @spinachwrap.bsky.social · 06/04/2025Maybe in 3 years I'll have a blueberry harvest? I have 5 small blueberry bushes (3 kinds of rabbiteye & 2 self fertile southern hybrids) in built up mounds of soil amendment & pine bark mulch on top of the clay. Will add soil and mulch as the plants grow & roll back the rocks yearly to accommodate. 220
Sam @spinachwrap.bsky.social · 05/04/2025Feeling vaguely optimistic about getting peaches this year, provided nothing eats them before they're ready. 020
Sam @spinachwrap.bsky.social · 14/03/2025Let's try video! #bird 🕊️🐦 The Carolina wrens are skittish, but the mystery sparrows are used to me existing behind the window and moving around a bit. 020
Sam @spinachwrap.bsky.social · 14/03/2025Please tell me what kind of sparrow these little boogers are. South Carolina #bird 🐦🕊️ 6121
Sam @spinachwrap.bsky.social · 30/01/2025..... So I just moved to SC, trying to ID plants in my yard to see what I should murder. Is this on the murder list? 200
Sam @spinachwrap.bsky.social · 09/01/2025TEXTURE I'm turning after each round because I personally dislike the twist from crocheting in the round without turning. www.ravelry.com/patterns/lib... 020
Sam @spinachwrap.bsky.social · 31/12/2024DIFFERENT DYE LOTS! DIDN'T NOTICE UNTIL NOW!! Welp. Guess I've crocheted a striped sweater because I'm not frogging it. 🧶 I'll do the pockets next, then the hood. 140
Sam @spinachwrap.bsky.social · 24/12/2024Original crochet pattern suggests the usual front pouch for a hoodie but I'd rather have side seam pockets so I'm doing that. 🧶 I've also flared the body out a bit as I approach the hips to better fit my shape. Pattern: www.ravelry.com/patterns/lib... More info in alt text! 1100
Sam @spinachwrap.bsky.social · 20/12/2024Wrist warmers! 🧶 HDC slip stitch done in back loop only, chain 36, 32 rows (or more if needed to close around your wrist / hands easily), sew the sides together except for thumb hole. For thumb I decreased at start and end of each row until I had enough thumb coverage. 010
Sam @spinachwrap.bsky.social · 03/11/2024Forgot to post when I finished it... The hood didn't work for my son as written so I winged it. 🧶 020
Sam @spinachwrap.bsky.social · 03/11/2024Finally finished this toddler hoodie! www.ravelry.com/patterns/lib... 🧶 190
Sam @spinachwrap.bsky.social · 30/09/2024Toddler hoodie in progress, using up the leftover cakes 🧶 from the blanket I finished a bit ago. Pattern is hearthookhome.com/harvest-hood... 140
Sam @spinachwrap.bsky.social · 27/09/2024Orchid (Cattelya sp) brought indoors to avoid storm winds plus our courtyard flag. Cheery! 030
Sam @spinachwrap.bsky.social · 22/09/2024This was going to be a present for my dad, but he passed away unexpectedly in February. So I put this in the closet until I had the emotional bandwidth to finish it. 45"x66", Caron cotton cakes 🧶 5140
Sam @spinachwrap.bsky.social · 17/09/2024www.ravelry.com/patterns/lib... Son picked out the 🧶 and pattern he wanted for his hoodie and is ecstatic with the result. I'll add sleeves when the weather cools off but for now this is good for chilly classroom wear 150
Sam @spinachwrap.bsky.social · 10/09/2024Toddler cardigan! 🧶 Bb lets me put it on, then immediately starts taking it off because he is a Florida child and doesn't understand sleeves. He'll figure it out when we visit family in the Midwest this fall. Anyway, based off the hexagon cardigan by TL Yarn Crafts, but toddler size. 1141
Sam @spinachwrap.bsky.social · 02/09/2024Cozy! I moved the pockets to the side seams and added the buttons. Used different yarn 🧶 (k+c cotton) so I adjusted the gauge based on my preferences. www.ravelry.com/patterns/lib... 1100
Sam @spinachwrap.bsky.social · 30/06/2024The squash grew SO much while I was traveling. Ridiculous, feeling hopeful about the single flower I saw on the cherry tomato plant. 010
Sam @spinachwrap.bsky.social · 11/06/2024Cherokee candy roaster, striped zucchini, yellow squash, yellow scallop squash, green striped cushaw, delicata, and also a watermelon and a basil because what this bed needed was more plants 010
Sam @spinachwrap.bsky.social · 28/04/2024About halfway done (4.5 cakes used out of 8), so this should end up around 80"x 46" More info in alt text 🧶 1100
