We love finding odd things in old underground rags and seeing where the thread takes us. Tonight we found these curious artifacts in the SF Barb offering lavender pictures from West Monroe, LA of all places! Turns out "Scott"'s address was the Grotto Motor Motel, which survived until the early 2000s

July 25, 1998 This past Saturday marked 28 years since the infamous Show World Center in NYC had live entertainment. Uncle Spicy's favorite nephew happened to be there that night, but he had no idea when he left that it was all about to end.

KRISTINE HELLER From Anthony Spinelli's 1977 CONFESSIONS. Kristine Heller passed away on June 30 1989 at only 39. While the mythology that's developed says she took her own life her obit says she died in hospital after a long illness. Whatever the reality was she left too early. youtu.be/meZZpJQ6WTI

Thursday December 17, 1998 was a sad day, the Capri that we're named after lost it's infamous sign for good. The theater had already been shuttered, and it would eventually be demolished. It's still an empty lot over a quarter century later.
