After many years, I’ve finally found a devotional for the long haul. The Redemptorists Daily Devotional is a really great devotional. It has the lectionary readings, a reflection, the saint of the day, front matter that includes many Catholic prayers, and is beautifully packaged to go where you go.

Today in faux winter storm foods, I’m having a slight Caribbean breakfast in pan frying canned sardines—no mackerel on hand. I fried them in the olive oil they come in with garlic, chili onion seasoning and a spritz of lemon. I ate it along with a plantain sandwich—plantain on buttered toast.

Continuing winter storm creations, I’ve mastered my egg nog latte! The milk to nog ratio is a quarter cup of milk to a half cup of nog. Using the Evan Williams adds an extra warmth to the drink.

Just finished Mr. Loverman, beautiful series on Britbox about Barrington, a man who has been married to a woman for 50 years but is in love and having an affair with his best friend. It’s a beautiful coming out and into self story. Well worth the $10.99 I paid for the subscription.

I finally found the right devotional for my temperament and it only cost me about $1,200. Well, not really that much but that is how much it costs to go to the meeting held at the retreat center that either sells these or provides them as gifts to people retreating at the property.
