School enrollment is plummeting in CA. Dana Point high school is 50% off its peak enrollment. This is all downstream from not building enough homes. High income taxes and low property taxes are just wealth transfers from young workers to the old rentier landed gentry.

Hard disagree. Prop 13 alone is so bad it cancels out any “good” ballot propositions. It’s a sloppy way to govern and just injects billions of dollars into politics.

I don’t think it’s remotely comparable. It’s a lot easier to leave a state and move to another state than to leave Norway and set up shop in another equivalent country. I Vote No on almost all ballot props involving revenue. It’s a terrible way to govern.

I generally agree but I wouldn’t rule out a full gutting. Of course, repealing Euclid would be the natural conclusion of the same jurisprudence but right wingers are arrested by the status quo bias and are in love with localism and pro-segregation stances.

CA ballot prop votes defaulting to “no” have increasing gravitational pull. The voters rejected a minimum wage increase for the first time last cycle. Hopefully this means direct democracy stops being much of a thing.
