I feel like values under a Carney admin mean something else entirely than under Trudeau. Both sets of values are still Canadian but Carney’s are more on the pragmatic end of the pyramid of needs.

Honouring a signed agreement is a value at this point. I think the “values” we’re looking for have changed substantially.

It’s funny that a tech CEO is getting credit for coining a term that those who actually do the work have known was a thing for over a year. Congrats on being a thought leader! No one else had figured out that people abuse AI to transfer work and cognitive load onto others!!

It’s so funny to see opposition politicians in Canada trying to jump on every Trump tirade and then having the entire thing reversed in 48 hours or less. If you have a policy position that relies on something Trump has said or threatened you’re playing chess with a chimpanzee.

Meta selling its AI chatbot as a thing that can shop for you is very on brand. We now have AI pushing mass consumption at scale with minimal human intervention. The solution is to buy less, buy local.

I will never get behind the idea that we have to empathise with these people. Bad ideas are bad. Dumb ideas are dumb. Lies are lies. There its no need to validate that they have a point. They do not have a point. All their grievances are fabricated by oil lobbyists.

there is a lot of good and fair criticism of Carney but I don't "hey you're doing too much" is the kind of criticism that Canadians are going to get behind. Let's all chill guys, what's the rush?

One of the best ways to make Canada strong would be to require minimum 50% Canadian ownership to access government tax credits or funding for media companies

much more concerning that a dip in attendance is the competency of an ownership group who can run a team in a *nine-team league* that can't win a game and has a .250 win percentage in the last five seasons.

Carney has a lot on his plate right now but I think someone needs to figure out WTF Canada is doing with daylight savings time. We are now a bizarre mishmash of timezones that is actually going to cause an accident at some point

Carney mentioning "payments" as one of the main areas where Canada and Europe should cooperate is interesting. The need for a non-American credit card system is a clear opportunity.

Our Prime Minister speaking in both English and French in front of the European Parliament to forge a new partnership is something I never imagined I'd see and never figured I'd react so emotionally to. Our little country is growing up.

the idea that social media platforms owned by American oligarchs and run like mind-control casinos are the only way to communicate with friends is a form of brain rot I'm seeing a lot lately. "But all my friends are there!" If your friends won't give you their phone number they're not friends

There’s a big difference between refurbishment and building something from scratch. The nuclear power industry is infamous for going massively over budget. And I’m not even a nuclear hater.

also, most of this investment is from institutional investors; these aren't the kinds of investments that get into the weeds on operations. They buy in and sit on long-term gains

Look, late-stage capitalism is toxic and all but if we can get bridges, rail, electricity grids and rare minerals fast-tracked by foreign investment I don't see the issue. It's not like the Chinese or Dutch can take the mines, windmills, or tunnels with them, it lives here by definition.

I’m an apple guy so I definitely had it in my mind that it was *possible* for them to launch a folding phone that wasn’t fugly. I was wrong. The entire product category is a chimera in search of a purpose.
