www.counterpunch.org/2026/06/11/t... Great piece by Terri Frick on the process of propaganda. Expands on how propaganda works and grows while keeping it very concise and focused. Also drops some breadcrumbs on exploring more about this process.

You may have pinpointed where the bad timeline diverged. This is at the other end of a red piece of yarn in some time traveler's conspiracy wall.

I'm not a physicist but I think time travel is just the scattered, smothered, covered version of teleportation.

I just watched The Lobby that was mentioned on Saturdays with Renee. Wild work. It was multiple parts of just different displays of egregiousness. These lobbiests were very happy to explain in detail what they do to this British mole.

Consumed with their gender identity... Consuming commodities obediently... I just saw the man cereal post...

Why do these "manly men" insist on creating the most stressful construction of gender possible. My hoodie has to invoke combat and I need to buy separate wipes? I'm tired.

I don't have enough bsky activity for liking this to not look so conspicuous. I wonder if a reply is too conspicuous...

I periodically consolidate my random containers of change that were smaller consolidations of random pennies and nickels throughout the house. That step of rolling them up and taking to the bank or something seems beyond capable means for my ADHD.

Grid approaches could instead be focused on conservation and efficiency with the appropriate political will.
010
Stephen Pellicer @spellicer.me · 02/01/2026
I kind of wish we stuck with the term grid computing instead of cloud. I lament that the ideas of using idle capacity or being able to provide fractions of capacity get swept up in this relentless pursuit of ever growing capacity.

Public control of priorities deserves that top spot (I don't think you were necessarily listing them in order of importance). I hope that once we stop this data center expansion (your wrecking ball is a good approach), we don't throw away the idea of computation as a utility.

I was trying to look for a sample to gauge age range. Our 8-year old is focused a lot on chapter books with mainly text and I was wondering if this will still grab his attention. I'm trying to be careful about it because he's very focused on getting older. That's its own struggle!

It's depressing seeing everything gravitate towards "AI". I do run of the mill business software and the only new tools and improvements I've gotten are those at the periphery of the AI buzz.

Sometimes it's even with a particular topic. There are some things I've been into for so long, I've lost touch with how I thought when I was beginning.
020
Stephen Pellicer @spellicer.me · 17/01/2025
I've also learned to recognize when I'm in a place or with people that are not for beginners and I am. I try to get as much as I can and find places to contribute, but bring some of my beginner questions to someone else in a different setting. Or do some independent learning if not available.

Yeah, I didn't realize this and saw the cutest smaller pressure cooker in my Pakistani friend's kitchen when I was over there and he was making us some dinner. I remember old school pressure cooker horror stories growing up.

It's very similar to other congees, just with tons of ginger and patis (filipino fish sauce, but I'll use any fish sauce if I'm out of patis, again, don't tell my aunt). My aunt's arroz caldo is definitely better than the instant pot version, but I can go do anything else I want while it's cooking.

Filipinos have a porridge like this called arroz caldo that I make in the instant pot. I just don't tell my aunt who would have maximum shaking her head at me in disappointment for not making it on the stove for hours.

Yeah, my Cali cousins introduced me to it (I'm in Atlanta). It's an orange pink dressing sauce thing and some other stuff put on the burger and/or fries. I tried it and it was ok, but I'll stick to the classic.

Stephen Pellicer @spellicer.me · 10/01/2025
I used to be a little obsessed with them when I was younger and going out to Cali to visit family. I've dialed it back a bit to a more normal level, but I still enjoy getting some whenever I'm somewhere they have one. (Never really got into that new fangled animal style)

The folks over at Black Liberation Media have all you can eat on this. They recently had a financial literacy grifter come on (I really don't think he knew what the channel was about) Brokish and they have yet to run out of different ways of discussing how he was wrong.

I was talking with my partner's 8 year old son when we were heading out to run an errand. I was trying to unpack why it was very important to him that it wasn't cold out. I was definitely cold. This messaging gets everywhere and I hate it.
