We ❤️ making users happy! One of our customers (a large healthcare system) had this to say about our tools and service — including kudos to our amazing @cliffcrocker.bsky.social! 👉 Learn how we collaborate with you to build your #webperf and #ux practice: www.speedcurve.com/why/collabor...
Text on a blue background: “SpeedCurve is a great tool — and 75% of the value we get is from our check-in sessions with their team! In our internal quarterly State of the Stack meetings, Speedcurve gets the most consistent accolades as a helpful resource. The platform, and the actual guidance from actual people, has enhanced our website and the knowledge of our team. The check-ins with Cliff are something special: on the calendars as optional for most of the team, yet everyone attends. Working with Speedcurve has allowed us to streamline our monitoring stacks because it is so comprehensive. We don’t need as many tools as we thought we did."

Don't let #pagespeed regressions cancel your optimizations! Add #webperf budgets to your toolbox. Get alerts when pages slow down. Quickly drill down to the root cause so you can speed up your pages and deliver a fast #ux. 🚀 Complete Guide to Performance Budgets: www.speedcurve.com/web-performa...
Quote from Michelle Vu, a performance engineer at Pinterest:"Fighting regressions took priority over optimizations. The reason we decided this was because in the past, when we had performance efforts, engineers who were working on optimizations couldn't really see progress in our performance metrics, because there were so many regressions happening at the same time."

Testimonial quote from Elliot Crush at Holiday Extras:

"SpeedCurve is worth its weight in gold. It highlighted performance bottlenecks and benchmarked us against competitors. We discovered an issue with blocking scripts in our SPA and improved performance by 40%. So valuable for securing stakeholder buy-in."

Yesterday we shared the Media Page Speed Benchmarks for the US, so now we're sharing the latest results for the EU/UK. Our friends at The Guardian had an LCP time of just over 2s, but 12 out of 14 sites failed to meet Google's 2.5s threshold. 👉 Explore benchmarks: app.speedcurve.com/benchmarks/e...
Screenshot of rendering timeline for the home page of The Guardian on a slow mobile connection.

Start render is 2 seconds.
Largest Contentful Paint is 2.16 seconds.
Last Painted Hero is 12.4 seconds.

These days, keeping up with the news feels more urgent than ever. Yet only three news sites in our Media Page Speed Benchmarks had LCP times below 3 seconds on mobile. The slowest sites had LCP times of almost 9 seconds! 👉 Dig into the benchmarks dashboard: app.speedcurve.com/benchmarks/u...
Screenshot of rendering metrics for the Huffington Post home page:
Start render - 4.2 seconds.
Largest Contentful Paint - 7.99 seconds.
Last Painted Hero - 25.2 seconds.

We love that our friends at Adevinta (hi @nucliweb.net!) use #webperf budgets to track TTFB and get alerts on redirect times! How you can do the same: Diagnose TTFB: www.speedcurve.com/web-performa... Guide to performance budgets: www.speedcurve.com/web-performa... #ux #sitespeed #pagespeed
Screenshot that includes the text: Time to First Byte is a key metric for measuring connection time and server responsiveness. While a good TTFB doesn't mean your pages will deliver a fast user experience, a slow TTFB almost certainly guarantees your pages will deliver a slow UX.

Next to it is a LinkedIn comment from Joan Leon, Staff Frontend Engineer at Adevinta:

"I love it. 🤩 This helps us to be able to create alerts on redirection times."

What do successful sites have in common? They all have a strong culture of web performance and usability. Creating a culture of #webperf and #ux means creating a feedback loop that looks like this. Here are some proven tips and best practices to get you started: www.speedcurve.com/web-performa...
A circular diagram that shows this feedback loop:
1. Get people to care about web performance in general.
2. Get people to care about the performance of your site in particular.
3. Involve people in making things better.
4. Celebrate wins.

If you have dozens of third-party scripts on a page, it can be tricky to figure out the source of your #webperf pain. In this short video, @cliffcrocker.bsky.social steps through the process for identifying a problematic third-party: support.speedcurve.com/docs/diagnos... #ux #js #pagespeed

Are you up to speed on current web performance metrics, including Core Web Vitals? Do you know which browsers do NOT support various metrics? How about SPAs? This glossary of common performance metrics might contain a few surprises for you! #webperf #ux #corewebvitals #sitespeed #pagespeed
Screenshot showing the glossary definition for Largest Contentful Paint. Largest Contentful Paint is provided by browsers via the Largest Contentful Paint API. It's the time at which the largest element in the viewport is rendered. It's only tracked on certain elements, e.g., IMG and VIDEO (see more here). As of August 2019, this is available in Chrome 77+. Largest Contentful Paint is one of Google's Core Web Vitals, along with Cumulative Layout Shift and Interaction to Next Paint. LCP may be present for a SPA navigation if the LCP candidate rendered during the transition is larger than the previous LCP. This is not considered a reliable metric for SPAs given that is it not a true 'continuous' metric.
