Does the same job, just automates it (with millisecond switch over). Many UK labs don’t have easy access to bypass the pump. Longer term aiming to add more capabilities - control through CDS and active vacuum management.

It vents your MSD to backing vacuum, with wear on your Turbo pump equivalent to a couple of hours continuous operation (most of the wear on a full vent cycle comes from pumping air and water). On a Monday morning, you can be fully operational in just over 2 hours!

It’s essentially a straight scale down without a full revalidation. For MCERTS or GxP, there are potentially further savings in electricity use, up to 10x improvements in detection limits and delivery of higher sample throughput that could be delivered through change control or an NS30 validation.
