AC8 is beautiful. Just 11/10 phenomenal from start to finish. Made me cry multiple times, and I entered piloting fugue state multiple times. Thank you to the 3 ppl trying to buying it for me at the same time. This was a fucking kino experience. Thanks friend, see you again...

I'm dead serious when I say MGS had a profound impact on me. Hell, MGS2's messaging changed the entire trajectory of my life. It did for just about every person I've talked to about the games. It inspired me like nothing else. I want to see its story live on. Pass its torch...

These collections seem to be headed up by a lot of veteran Kojipro staff. More than Vol 1 had. They seem to of updated quite a lot of elements to match the new platforms, without being disruptive or revisionist. Leaving them almost as is. (With perf improvements). I'm glad.

But now, the ENTIRE mainline series is in my Steam library; Switch,PS5, Xbox, etc. There's A LOT to criticize about Konami, and their treatment of Kojipro. But this may be the greatest act of MGS preservation ever. Even if it'll never capture the entire zeitgeist of MGS4 (MGO)

Historically, getting new people into this series was a hurdle. If you HAD the consoles, cool! Else, older ports had varying issues, emulation for a few of them was iffy - But those were your options. It got better over time, but MGS4 remained the outlier. Buy a PS3, or no dice.

With Master Collection Vol 2 coming out, I finally get to play it. It'll be familiar, but I'll finally get to see these scenes in their proper context, start to finish. On PC. More importantly? Good port or not, every mainline entry will finally be preserved in its entirety.

On occasion, I'd try and boot up one of those "MGS4 Full Movie!!" YT video's and make an attempt to at least see it. But time and time again I'd stop right around act 1 and say to myself "Y'know, I'd rather play this." Emulation didn't feel viable yet, but it WAS getting there.

Oh sure, I know enough of it via osmosis. I just never had a PS3 growing up. I've played it here and there when I've had the chance with other people's copies (never past Act 1), know the important story beats, seen the ending, have copies of the music. I've even datamined MGS4!

The least spoilery thing I can say is Toby is still really bad at illustrating what's progress and what's a side path. Undertale made it obvious; made the entire room visible at once or changed up the music. For Deltarune, roll a 1d6 to see if you lock yourself out of content.

Maybe a step up step down thing? 'v' For reference I tired using it as a joystick to move around in VR, and a seperate time as makeshift rudder pedals for flight sims. No program available at the time really made it workable. The pad was either TOO sensitive or not sensitive enough...

I can assure you, it's a headache. There are a dozen programs but none of them are that good. (ie, some do analog stick output but has no binding solutions, some only output keyboard keys, etc.) I've kept an eye on it for years hoping somebody would make a better program, but no luck...
