tl;dr by deriding art made by marginalized communities and/or for them you are actively discouraging the creation of art by/for them also known as: if I see the high guardian spice situation rehashed one more time I am blocking everyone on earth . forever

011

Specter of You | VGen OPEN! @specterofyou.neocities.org · 11/09/2026

you know what you should do instead? post about what you DO like! encourage what you WANT to see! that helps the creator! spend your time loving other people's work. spend it encouraging creation. spend it telling the creators that it made your day better

030

Specter of You | VGen OPEN! @specterofyou.neocities.org · 11/09/2026

it is NOT for you! and that's okay! you can dislike something, and leave it COMPLETELY alone. you can walk away! you are a) ultimately harming the creator with what you post and b) harming the chances of it being seen by people who WOULD like it

120

Specter of You | VGen OPEN! @specterofyou.neocities.org · 11/09/2026

let's take steam as an example (note: i am a game dev) each negative review impacts the overall score of your game. there is no "neutral/middle of the road" review. each negative review harms the game if you do not like the game for and/or by marginalized people DO NOT MAKE A REVIEW OF IT ON STEAM

130

Specter of You | VGen OPEN! @specterofyou.neocities.org · 11/09/2026

talk about it with friends! keep your thoughts on a private account! but DO NOT post about it there is a difference if the person or people making it are actively harming others. if they are not, I repeat, DO NOT POST ABOUT IT

121

Specter of You | VGen OPEN! @specterofyou.neocities.org · 11/09/2026

as a queer + disabled creator, I have learned one very important lesson during my tenure on the internet: if you do not like art a) by a marginalized creator and/or b) for marginalized people-- ESPECIALLY if you have a large following-- do not post about it

DtD DATE! technically starts its school year on a Tuesday, which ironically lines up with Sept 1st this year. Our protag, Danish, is new in town and the player gets to choose whether their first impression is of silent conformity, or frothing gender rebellion

DtD DATE! screenshots. We are in Danish's room as they ponder picking the boy's uniform.

It evokes "Masculine swagger. A brave knight spilling blood for the thrill of sport and for his noble cause. Strife. Dominance. The root of all evil."

Danish ponders picking the girl's uniform.

It evokes "Feminine grace. A demure consort tempting and poisoning a foreign agent to please her king. Restraint. Submission. the root of all evil."

We are in class at North Town High. Mr. Krimp tells Danish "You're free to sit where you want. But in my class, girls sit on that side, near the window. Boys sit on that side, near the door."

The player is given options on where to sit:

"I'm a Girl."
"I'm a Boy."
"What about..?"

A full-body commission of a teal-and-sand colored fennec fox character reeling back a fishing rod with a similarly teal lingcod clinging to the lure. His back is facing rh viewer while he smiles over his shoulder at his catch with one foot kicked up in the air. He has a crab-like symbol on his back and brown accents on his tongue, nose, ears and top surgery scars. The background is blue with text reading “FISH”, a splash of water, a sun, and light reflections from the water. In the corner is a chibi of the same character holding up the lingcod towards the viewer and winking happily, the fishing rod tucked behind his head.
