This was the beginning of my challenge to use up all the stuff in the fridge before going on a trip. These are the final installments of the challenge, which I did ultimately achieve due to my genius nature & inimitable preservation in the face of adversity.
Linguine pasta in a silky tangy sauce made with cherry tomatos from the backyard cooked in rice wine vinegar, roasted carrots & corn, accompanied by crispy mushrooms & garlic atop olive bread goat cheese toastCurry with tomatoes from the backyard, butternut squash, carrots, cabbage, anything I could throw in Lol with some ginger rice & cilantro yogurt sauce too.Baked ziti typa thang using tomatoes from the backyard, carrots, spinach & celery, topped with mozzarella, accompanied by spinach & carrot salad with roasted chickpeas & goat cheese.

Blue tamales with homemade salsa verde of course 😇 Basically exactly the same as any other tamale I’ve ever crafted except they are awesomely blue this time.

This post by Jocelyne Allen plus the part two made me really excited to read this book. The prospect of using “the sexual to interrogate the spiritual, and the spiritual to explore capitalism” is just too enticing…😲 brainvsbook.wordpress.com/2019/03/22/a...

Amazoness Kiss: Natsuko Ishitsuyo
The luggage situation on the Japan side of the ocean has been getting increasingly over the top the last few trips I’ve made. I’m there for months at a time, so it’s only natural that I would take …

Fascinating interview with artist Marie Lorenz by Brian Nicholson for TCJ 🛶🛟 Definitely going to check out her sculptures when I visit Nyc next week. Wonder if I can finagle a tide taxi ride as well… www.tcj.com/marie-lorenz...

Reading a lot of Gabrielle Bell to prepare for an upcoming Nyc trip
Panel from Gabrielle Bell’s “The Voyeurs” depicting Gabrielle at the Genius bar; the man behind the desk says, “It looks like there’s a smudge in your disk drive. We can fix it.” Gabrielle says, “Oh, good.” He follows up with, “I heard they’re putting a Starbucks on Manhattan Avenue.” She responds, “No!” Lol 😭

It’s driving me crazy that I can’t watch the follow up episodes to this series. They don’t seem to be on iplayer with the rest of the show…You would think with true crime being so popular I could find them somewhere, but no, the trackers are empty, my fields are barren, no harvest to speak of 😫

Lots of tempeh dinners recently cuz the Simple Soyman is back in business and there is simply no other product that can compare. Usually I post these on instagram but my 2 instabanned friends said why you no crosspost 🥲 Lol this one goes out to all the crasy peoples who love to say yum…!
Soba noodle bowl with spicy glaze roasted tempeh triangles, pickled radish & carrots, green onion and limey peanut garnishBaconized tempeh strips for a beautiful bahn mi type sandwich, topped with pickled mix of onion, carrot & cabbage, chili crisp mayo, cilantro and Oh don’t forget the slice of lime..! There were also thai chiles I forgot to put in before the picture was taken.Honey mustard roasted tempeh & kabocha squash on top of kale pasta salad And also there’s feta on top. The scent of the tempeh was so enticing my landlord texted me to say Whatcha cooking?Brown rice & quinoa bowl topped with broccoli, miso mustard roasted tempeh & chickpeas, toasted walnuts & goat cheese

I forgot to say I also add quite a lot of lime juice after blending. And the second time I added white beans, they really soaked up the citrus flavor & turned out so tasty. Also kashmiri chili seasoning to make it spicier so it’s kind of like a hot & sour soup. Lol just a few things I missed 😅

I don’t like tomato soup so here is my variation using cherry tomatoes from my backyard garden; the tomatoes are stewed in mirin with some garlic & whatever pepper is harvestable (shishito or thai chile), add red curry paste & coconut milk, cook for ten min then blend with tomato water & serve 👨‍🌾
Vibrant orange tomato soup paired with soy chorizo & spicy cheese quesadillas topped with pepian verde sauce 👨🏻‍🍳Bright orange tomato soup paired with pepperjack grilled cheese with some tofu smoked ham plus a little mustard. Oh and also don’t forget slice of lime…

I do this so often & with so much incredulity, I get confused when people think I’m coming on to them. If I wanted to fuck we would be doing that right now. I actually just wanted you to look at this porn that reminded me of you

Agreed, which is weird for a film with so many candy shots seemingly stating we shouldn’t feel bad for deriving pleasure from something designed for that very purpose.
001
Ris @spectatrix.bsky.social · 07/09/2026
Yes, just weak argument building. There’s certainly a central idea, but then an inordinate amount of time is spent acknowledging all other ideas as equally valid & important (even when they’re not, in terms of the story at hand).

Ris @spectatrix.bsky.social · 07/09/2026
Yes I see what you mean, I think they are very similar films though. Both are stoner comedies with less jokes (treats) & more deliberation on how the “real” world stands in the way of the characters’ ultimate fantasy of getting paid to do nothing. Or getting paid to be your true self (UBI)

Ironically the only movies that can hold my attention nowadays are “slow” films, which feel turbo-charged in comparison to the swiping & scrolling cinema of deferment…At least things are happening in these movies. Is it so much to ask for?!

It’s the same thing that drives me crazy with television, the repetitious looping around an idea often to the point of undermining itself because too many counter arguments are entertained without any real consideration for the story they are apparently trying to tell. Puts me right to sleep 😴

Which makes sense considering the algorithmic sorting of ideologies & aesthetics into buckets that can be discretely assigned to a demographic. The name of the game is eternal deferment, or else you would watch one vid and close the app having been satiated with a fulfilling experience.

Ris @spectatrix.bsky.social · 07/09/2026
The mistake one might make reading “swiping & scrolling” is that he means a faster pace to appease shorter attention spans when it’s the opposite; the editing is elongated, elliptical, and entirely deferential…Narrative conclusions are indefinitely delayed to service delivery of ideas instead

I can’t believe for once in my life I agree with this crank. I watched these 3 films consecutively last week, and the first thing I thought of was that they all move at a snail’s pace with nothing to show for it in the end…Although I would replace “internet” with short form videos specifically

Everyone is soooo sure that there are only 2 genders and they know exactly what they are, until the moment I step out the house with a self-administered bad haircut…Then suddenly the possibility of some mysterious third gender becomes very real, and very necessary to discuss with me specifically 🙄

The misuse of “trope” I can forgive, people were just misled to think it means anything that happens in any media because of the accursed site. But when a guy feels the need to “break kayfabe” and explain a joke he just told that you didn’t laugh at because it wasn’t funny…That I cannot condone
010
Ris @spectatrix.bsky.social · 15/08/2026
I never thought anything would annoy me more than the egregious misuse of the term “trope” (the defamiliarization of which I blame entirely on the website Tv tropes), and yet, the constant refrain of “breaking kayfabe” coming from only the unfunniest among us has really taken the cake.

Funny to cite these two american directors in particular, both of whom I think we all know way too much about for there to be any mystery as to what’s real & what’s fictional in their cinematic depictions of themselves…But I do get the comparison. Lol 🥴
