***REVIEW***Specky Cult - Dad Dance@speckycult_musicHere at PEA Tweety and I have a long running enjoyment of boomer memes and relishing in the fact we're basically boomers in training now, since we are pushing into our mid 40's and screaming towards 50 at an ever alarming speed. Also I can't dance at all, even when I was young "dad dancing" was my default setting, Tweety can dance though. From what I can gather Specky Cult are from the North East and regularly cheer up grumpy northerners up with a busy gig schedule, showing off their up beat, theatrical and fun take on guitar driven music.I think they've got a keyboard player in the line up too so added kudos for that, we need more keyboard players in bands.Dad Dance itself is a charming Twee Pop number relishing in the amusing tradition of I suppose; blokes over thirty hitting the dancefloor. We've all seen it at the family get togethers - a few drinks in and the dancefloor lights up with hot moves that get more regrettable as the night goes on.I've had a little dig around for information on the band and alongside the fun tunes; there's actually a long standing commitment to DIY punk culture, a solid work ethic and they're building cross generational audiences - all things which are very important to this cool shit surviving.I love playing at and attending gigs when there's a mixed crowd and line up - it's a great vibe, a very beautiful thing and the way forward in our opinion. Specky Cult could share the stage with hardcore bands, indie, dub reggae or whatever. If the event was well curated and in the right venue, it would be a top banger of a night and no doubt some off the chain dad dancing would ensue. They told me they're working on a ton of stuff which should see the light of day this year, in the meantime they've got an album out at all the usual places, a few singles (including Dad Dance) so check them out here on IG and bust a move lol.#powerpop #tweepop #punkrock #poppunk #musicreview
