After 400 years of having a thumb on the scale, simply removing it doesn't make things right. The scale is warped. Irreparably. We need a new scale.

The movement drags the party(sometimes kicking and screaming). Suffrage, environment, labor, civil rights, anti-Vietnam war. And when it fails to drag them, as with abolition, it can result in the creation of a new party and the death of the old one. So careful, Dems. We're watching you.

I hate being right sometimes. We're now at the "show me your papers stage."
post from October 23, 2024. Of course it will start with those who complied with the laws. The ones that filed for asylum or work authorization. No doubt the families of people who died working hazardous jobs. Eventually they'll get to the 'show me your papers' stage which states like Texas will be more than happy to enforce.

On Greenland, this is what the Dumper, a very stupid man, sees:
Image showing map of Greenland, Canada, U.S., and Mexico with projection(stretching from globe to flat) inflating the size the farther north you go. Greenland looks massive, as big as the U.S. and Canada combined.

"I'm not mad at you" should be our "I bear my chest; shoot me!" The latter, said by Abu Sayed shortly before being shot, escalated a movement's conflict with a government whose leader was thought to be untouchable. Sheikh Hasina was deposed, fled the country, and sentenced to death in absentia.

In the past couple of decades the U.S. spent billions trying to figure out how to defeat an insurgency. Good to know they didn't learn anything. Just replace "COIN force" with "ICE" and "insurgents" with "immigrants" or "protestors."
The bad COIN practices or factors are as follows:
• The COIN force used both collective punishment and escalating
repression.
• The primary COIN force was an external occupier.
• COIN force or government actions contributed to substantial
new grievances claimed by the insurgents.
• Militias worked at cross-purposes with the COIN force or
government.
• The COIN force resettled or removed civilian populations for
population control.
• COIN force collateral damage was perceived by the population in
the area of conflict as worse than the insurgents’.
• In the area of conflict, the COIN force was perceived as worse
than the insurgents.
• The COIN force failed to adapt to changes in adversary strategy,
operations, or tactics.
• The COIN force engaged in more coercion or intimidation than
the insurgents.
• The insurgent force was individually superior to the COIN force
by being either more professional or better motivated.
• The COIN force or its allies relied on looting for sustainment.
• The COIN force and government had different goals or levels of
commitment.
