Finished Industrial Cultivation!! It’s not a complex story and the characters aren’t particularly fleshed out, but what is there is endearing. And it didn’t drag like a lot of web novels of this length - watching everything come together was like watching Lego pieces snap into place, very satisfying

I also appreciate how the school trip group is obviously set up to allow them to spend time together, and how the popular guy’s popular friends are all obviously in on it. Watari is not being subtle, is what I’m saying

I appreciate how downbad this popular boy is from the jump. He’s super obviously into our nerdy protag who is, to be fair, very cute

And now I’m watching the BL jdrama School Trip: Joined a Group I’m Not Close To. Look. I never watch tv. This totally counts as diversifying my media

So I played a couple hours of Wilde Flowers this afternoon, which was cute but mostly made me want to play Stardew Valley.

2025 was the year of comfort reading, where like 85% of my chill time was spent reading fanfic and web novels. I’m gonna try to broaden my range back out this year. Get some diversity of media up in here

I’m a huge fan of Tossawary’s work, and this one is especially full of my favorite things. Worldbuilding! Excellent characterization! Baffled LQG! Obliviously gay SQQ! archiveofourown.org/works/765959...

I didn’t manage to finish Industrial Cultivation before the new year, but Tossawary DID post the last chapter of their latest fic at midnight, so I got to spend the first hour of 2026 reading about Shen Qingqiu annoying his way into friendship with Liu Qingge 😎

I knew a rocket launcher would eventually appear, and this battle is everything I’d hoped it would be

I apologize to the author, they’re not interested in dragging things out at all. I’ve been burned in the past! But this relationship is progressing at a really charming clip.

They are maybe sort of dating, so that happened faster than expected! Did he just make his boyfriend fucking training wheels for his bike

My concern is we’ve just had a climatic story arc that tied up a bunch of loose ends. The love interest’s back story has been revealed and he’s expressed his interest in, at minimum, a sexual relationship. There’s 100 chapters to go. Are they gonna draw out the sexual/romantic tension for all 100

Especially notable for the setting, there’s a large cast of interesting female characters, none of whom have died so far

There’s a black tiger yao called Land Developer, because protag wanted to name her after something suitably black hearted. She spends most of her time as a black cat and likes to dress like a pretty princess.

I’m halfway through Lin Zhiluo’s ‘Industrial Cultivation’ and so far it’s a particularly good One Of These. There are Xianxia Situations resolved with rice cookers and phonographs! There’s a mysterious love interest who’s in it for the new toys and junk food! There’s livestream commentary!
