A fun part of doing deep cleaning in your house is finding old newspaper articles your mom sent you. In this case, it was an article from the Hartford Courant in Jan 2004 about Woody Guthrie, and I check the byline and it's @erdanton.bsky.social of course

Sometimes old quotes are still relevant #billhicks
Bill Hicks saying "the problem isn't a lack of money, food, water or land ... The Problem is that you've given control of these things to a group of greedy psychopaths who care more about maintaining their own power than helping mankind."

They are literally using racist calls to local police depts from ten years ago as justification to detain these people
The government included two exhibits with their filing, which have been filed under seal. One of the exhibits, which NBC News has reviewed, is a 2015 report from the Windsor Police Department in Vermont, where a gun shop owner told officers that Mahdawi "supposedly told" the owner that he used to build machine guns "to kill Jews while he was in Palestine."

In his declaration, Mahdawi said that he recalled visiting a gun shop in Windsor, Vermont, but that he is "absolutely certain that I never expressed the words the report falsely attributes to me, in that exchange or ever."

🙄🙄🙄
Text of portion of article from New Hampshire Bulletin:
Goodlander said that if Democrats were in the majority, she would support an impeachment investigation into Trump.

“There has been no inquiry that has started,” she said. “But what I can tell you is that we’ve seen a pattern and a practice over the course of this second Trump administration that repeated itself in the first and so yes, I do believe that there would be credible grounds to really conduct a thorough investigation. But I want to stress that I really believe that there shouldn’t be casual talk about impeachment proceedings. This is a punishment that our Constitution really reserves for a very, very select subset of offenses. We’re talking treason and high crimes.”

Goodlander said it’s a priority of hers to help her party win a majority in the House of Representatives during 2026’s midterm elections.

“The system our Constitution creates is of three co-equal branches,” she said. “And we need a check on this administration.”

Screen shot of a skeet from Aaron Ross Powell: There are two kinds of libertarians: Those who oppose the state because they reject hierarchy and oppression, and view the state as the main tool for imposing both, and those who oppose the state because they support hierarchy and oppression and view the state as the main barrier to achieving both

summed up in the Cracker song, "If you wanna change the world / Shut your mouth and start to spin it"
The hard truth, as I’ve said before and will say again, is that consuming information is not resistance. Posting is not resistance. Some good can come from spreading information, but it’s not the resistance we desperately need. The hard truth is that the house always wins. The game is rigged in Vegas, and it’s rigged on Instagram — we can’t beat back this fascist onslaught on their turf. Algorithms across platforms are controlled by billionaires, and if we focus our energy too heavily on social media we risk becoming controlled opposition. We risk venting and feeling like we’re fighting the forces of evil on our phones and computers and maybe even getting some catharsis out of it, all while changing little or nothing.

I've been thinking a lot about this, and how the old Dems refuse to acknowledge that this is a new era & that the rest of us are in the struggle together. These back to back make me think I'm a Solidarity Democrat, and I need to look for other Solidarity Dems who have my back and aren't sellouts
And there are I suppose two ways Democratic Party could reconstitute: we could take it over, or else we could start something new. I am more inclined to the former (because that's how white supremacist christians got their overt white supremacist Republican party) but I don't really care to argue with those who prefer the latter. There are people within the Democratic Party with fight still in them. There are those outside the party who organize and fight. Perhaps (it seems unlikely, but perhaps) there might even be a stray Republican who finds their soul and conscience, even at this late date. What's needed are leaders, and I'm not sure we can be picky about where they come from. Let's take them all and sort it out as we go.What I want to think about is what sort of leader we need.

Leaders of Solidarity
Solidarity is first and foremost. If a leader is going to sell one group out because it's popular, they'll sell you out when it becomes popular. So a leader who talks of selling somebody out for realism or strategy can and should be known as a sellout.

This guy ain't too bright
Both of them have been thinking a lot about Bartell's vote for Trump.

"I knew they were cracking down," he said. "I guess I didn’t know how it was going down."

He imagined the administration would target people who snuck over the border and weren't vetted.

But his wife, "they know who she is and where she came from," he said. "They need to get the vetting done and not keep these people locked up. It doesn’t make any sense."

The tone deafness is astounding, but do you expect from corporate shill WMUR: - calling it "Trudeau's boycott" - no mention of US aggression - no real mention of WHY there's a boycott - and then this gem:
Nyan said despite the boycott to vacation in the United States, Hampton will open its arms to all Canadians this summer, just as it always has. "We want to make sure that we give a warm welcoming to our Canadian friends who have been good to us," he said.
Nyan said the Hampton Chamber of Commerce is going to Montreal next weekend for a tourism expo. He said they will get a better idea then on how tourists are feeling about visiting the Granite State this summer."

at least this guy knew how to fuckin drive a car abcnews.go.com/Politics/bid...
While test driving Ford's F-150 Lightning pickup during an unscheduled stop at a Ford testing site, Biden pulled up to reporters and said, "This sucker is quick."

President Joe Biden drives a F150 electric truck at the Ford Dearborn Development Center in Dearborn, Mich., May 18, 2021, looking fucking cooooooolDonning his classic aviator shades, Biden drove the electric truck through an empty lot, before telling reporters it "feels great" to be behind the wheel and answering, "I would," when asked if he would buy one. One Secret Service agent rode in the passenger seat alongside the president.

"I think that we're going 0 to 60 in about 4.3, 4.4," Biden said, before demonstrating again how quickly the vehicle can accelerate, appearing to push the gas pedal to the floor. He said he'd lay off the pedal at 80 mph.

The series was based on Democratic Senators who shared a house. Oh look it's our favorite dumbass chuck schumer
Clip of Wikipedia article on the TV show Alpha House: The series is inspired by several real Democratic Senators who share a row house in Washington D.C.[3] The series has a number of cameos from celebrities such as Bill Murray (as Senator Vernon Smits) and politicians such as Chuck Schumer as himself. Amazon Studios offered the first three episodes of Alpha House for free, with each subsequent episode released weekly thereafter for Amazon Prime members on Amazon Prime Video.

The China Passenger Car Association (CPCA) reported Tesla’s shipments from China fell to 30,688 in February, plunging 49% compared to a year ago, per Bloomberg News, and down more than half compared to January (63,238). Meanwhile, wholesale sales of new energy vehicles in China for the month hit 840,000 units, up 82% compared to last year.

Your Senator is not using their power of the minority by withholding unanimous consent. Your House Representative is not filing Articles of Impeachment. This is Uvalde and they are the cops on the outside. Gift link: defector.com/this-is-uval...
No one has driven them out, despite their open lawlessness. The House minority has not bothered to commemorate any of Trump's new impeachable acts with articles of impeachment. No senator has blockaded the Trump administration's appointments to demand Musk be removed, investigated, and prosecuted. No judges have locked anyone up for contempt yet, despite a stance from the administration of unbroken contempt toward the courts.

This kid won a full ride to Dartmouth! Good for him! However expensive I think Dartmouth is, it's not (yet) $2B a year -- the article says $320k and never says $8B. Is that their true endowment amount? 🤔 AI generated headlines suck
MSN headline likely generated by AI claiming a Vietnamese student won an $8 billion scholarship. It was a $320,000 scholarship, the headline is misleading and inaccurate
