Between practices last night, some of the choir went carol singing in #Bournemouth town centre. And it was lovely. People seemed very pleased to hear some traditional carols amongst the noise and cheer of the Christmas market.

(We're full at the moment. But we will have two places specifically for experienced singers aged 10+ in January. And we're running a waiting list for all candidates. If you want to be part of the next re-shuffle, get in touch!) 5/5

...to help them develop independently, as well as to balance the gaps if a family is away. Some combinations of singing voices work better than others. Some focus better when they're under the nose of the director. And there are always certain 'chatty' combinations to avoid. 3/5

This is more complicated than you'd think. Inexperienced probationers need to be placed next to senior choristers who will help and guide them. Experienced choristers need to go at the ends of the lines to lead in procession. Siblings normally go on opposite sides... 2/5

One of the specific challenges of running a voluntary trebles' choir is that the line-up can change quite often as choristers join, progress, and leave. This means that the seating plan has to be re-thought from time to time. 1/5

Thank you Gabrieli Consort for a great day of music-making yesterday! And thank you to Portsmouth Cathedral and David Price for hosting it and making us so welcome. If you get the chance to be involved with a Gabrieli #ROAR project, grab it with both hands. Paul McCreesh is a man on a mission 🎵

It was our privilege and joy to sing for the Licensing of our new Priest-in-Charge, Nick Jepson-Biddle, on Thursday evening. The introit was written by David Price for the occasion, and we were joined by a brass ensemble to sing Stanford's Te Deum in B flat as the anthem.
