Yeah, I didn’t feel it, but maybe I’m just jaded. A lot of it felt performative to me. All the middle eastern restaurants by me closed for at least a few days because they were afraid of attacks. The Sikhs at work were afraid to be out in public and then politicians used it to push war in Iraq.

My point is, culture change take time, often inching forward until ‘bam’, an inflection point is met (like how most were against gay marriage in 2000, including Obama and now most are for it-took years of small steps first). Change doesn’t always happen as fast as we want, but still worth pursuing.

Not voting is a vote. Just like silence is often considered assent. People who are harmed, but didn’t vote, actually did vote for it, unintentionally or not. Doesn’t mean they shouldn’t be helped when they need it & unintended consequences are a thing that gets grace, but much was predicted

1) I don’t believe that (some dems, yes, but not as a whole), 2) there are 3rd parties for protest votes, 3) there are other ballot items and 4) there will never be someone who is perfect; just not humanly possible, so you vote for whose closest. But sure, Hitler vs Mussolini wouldn’t get my vote.

That’s ridiculous. Complain about various reps who are cowards, yes, but non-voters absolutely should be dragged (unless in a coma or care home or other extreme reason). Not voting says I don’t care what happens, that I don’t believe government affects me, or I’m too privileged to be affected.

As Gen X myself, it is absolutely a fact that the majority voted for trump. Especially the men. In my office of college educated (most Gen X), almost all the women were anti-trump, but 2/3 of the men were all for him. I’ve basically lost all trust in them.
