... that even if he did an actually good AI-less RPG for Czech kids, it would still fail financially and generate little interest. Our market is sooo bad. Being angry at AI is the right thing, but I also wanna hear about some VIABLE alternatives. Some light at the end of the tunnel, please, please?

They've been trying the same trick with gays / lesbians - acknowledging the "good ones" that they won't harass - those who wear mainstream clothes, don't wave rainbow flags, don't show love in public, don't do any queer activism... and it unfortunately works since it's an ego booster for many.

Far-right found out that trans ppl are unified against them and rhetoric against ALL trans ppl puts off ppl who have trans relatives / friends. So now JKR declares some trans ppl "acceptable" and hopes they like it and internalize this divide and the trans solidarity falls apart. (2/2)

Ppl speculate that JKR's latest "surprisingly positive" statement about trans people was made because ppl are boycotting her TV show and she is losing money. I fear that the real reason is way more sinister (yes, it is possible): it's a new strategy of the far-right to divide trans people... (1/2)

Btw, all the NPCs depicted on our Backerkit page, where you loved the artwork, can be romanced :) but some of them you won't want to since they're very evil. And I don't mean "cartoonishly cool evil", but very real fascist, genocidal, domestic abuse etc. evil. I want to depict evil as it really is.

If I had a bigger budget for Kalusa, I would hire LOADS of sensitivity readers. I want to create complex stories about hardships, but I don't have expertise in these topics. So I wonder if I should really write about it. I really want to do it right, but my time and resources are limited :(

Making fun of Deathbringer brings me just a brief relief... then I remember that so many ppl in my area (Czechia) celebrate this game and backed it just to "piss of the woke". I wish Bluesky could bring me friendships and deeper support against all the fundamentally incompatible ppl around me :(

Czech language is hardcore and so are Czech proofreaders. When they edited my writing, they always tortured me with correct use of dashes etc. it felt like a BDSM session. And now that I learned to use em-dashes correctly, after years of Pavlov-style conditioning, people will assume that I am AI :/

The joy of putting out work that is 100% you is great. But the aftermath - the diminishing of your audience base and the subsequent lack of funding, also hate and cyberbullying, bad press, loneliness, mental health deteriorating... that can have long lasting consequences.

... for example when you live in a bigoted country and you put out work that includes nonbinary characters, you will likely be targeted by hate and boycotts, you might be dropped by the only RPG publisher in the country... and you need a good support network to withstand it. I'm conflicted about artistic manifestos that tell stuff like "Fuck the audience", "Say what you feel out loud", "Consensus is poison". While it is empowering and all, I also feel that it's privileged. Because in order to be able to "fuck the audience", you need to have a good support network...
